Yeah, they told me they were about to chop it up the last time I was there. A real shame.

ETA: Boeing doesn’t own the museum anymore and the Douglas people continue to frick things up, I read that article and it is complete bullshite, I went in that jet a couple of years ago and it was pristine, frick McDonnell-Douglas for that

Have always enjoyed checking out what military 707 projects were on the apron when heading up I5.

Lufthansa replaced the A380 on the IAH-FRA route with the 747-800. I'm on that baby in July! The FRA Senator lounge overlooks the area where the 747s, A380s, all park. Seeing those two together in the same livery provides a perfect reference between beauty and hot garbage.

So what are they doing with it when it gets there? Scrap? Giving it to Ukraine?

It becomes Malaysian Airlines' newest airplane.

It is sad. Glad I got to fly her so many times from ORD to FRA and then onto BLR.

First class upstairs on Lufthansa was almost a treat once you got over having to fly 21-22 hours.

Guys, it's the last delivery of a new 747, the plane will continue to fly commercial for at least another 15 years.

While I dislike the new Lufthansa all-blue livery, the opportunity is still there to fly it, and will be for a while.

Eights on pylons and an elongated chandelle. Clearly maneuvering. Nothing to see here.

I wonder when it's time to decommission the 737-Max, whether they will fly it into the ground.

So the last order delivery was fulfilled?

I’ve never been on one but they’re impressive up close.

Dude, find a trip to make it happen. Even if you're in coach, it's a piece of history. I've been on so many airframes in 40 years it's weird, but being on the 747 is a special experience. It's *grand.* Fly to Germany for Oktoberfest through Houston to get on a 748 (747-800), just do it.

When we came back from Barcelona, my 8 year old complained that the plane didn't have two stories. It was an A321 from Barcelona to FRA, so short trip, but he was upset. If you have kids, get them on the magnificent piece of aviation, the 747. A380s are clearly done, and while I love the 787, there is nothing as beautiful as the 747.
