Thanks for all of the responses. Another question, for the most of you were eye issues before the surgery from age or did you always have vision problems. I am near 50 and my issues are from age, will lasik still help me?

Had it done a few months ago. Dr. Singer. Nice guy. Did my pre-op with Dr. Estrada. She is a very nice woman. She spent a lot of time detailing the surgery and explaining the process. Haven’t had any issues. 40 years old... no need for reading glasses, but I expect I’ll need them. They’re very upfront telling you this.

There are “packages.” Different surgeries and options. Go for the silver or middle package. Will run you about $2,700 total. Money well spent.

I'm getting PRK done in 2 weeks.

According to Dr Lahaye's office, 15 years FDA studies have shown that the flap from Lasik can come undone and they only do PRK now. PRK has a little longer recovery time, but is supposed to be safer long term

Thats actually what I had done. Recovery is a little bit longer, they are right.

From my understanding, no.

Just depends on what your issues are

When I had mine done I was in my early 30’s. They told me I would be good for about 10-15 years and then I would more than likely need glasses again just to read. They were right.

I will say though, I’m still good as my farsight is still almost perfect, it’s my nearsight I have the problem with.

My wife had it done in 1998. Has been good, but she is back to wearing readers.

I would think it is worth for just the farsightness. I know standard lasik doesn't fix nearsightedness but I would think it does help some. Anyone know anything or experience with this new Mono vision surgery that corrects nearsightedness?

I had PRK done 3 years ago with lahaye in lafayette. It cost about $3200 total. I didn't need to have PRK per se because I was a good candidate all around, but I figured PRK would be good to eliminate any potential flap issues, and I think it preserves your cornea better if you need adjusting later. Recovery kinda sucked for a few days, but all in all it was a fantastic experience. I'd have the surgery done every 4 or 5 years to eliminate the arse pain of contacts. Luckily that shouldn't be necessary.

I had it done in 2006 and it was the best $ 2,500 I ever spent. However, about 6 months ago at times I need to use the cheater glasses for up close reading especially if the room is not lit up well.

Had it done in 2000 in Baton Rouge on both eyes for $1,600 total. Best money I ever spent.

I had it done in January of 2010 after wearing contacts for 20 years. Last time I went to the eye doctor I still had the 20/15 vision I had after the procedure.

I think I paid around 5k for both eyes.
