LASIK/PRK in lafayette

Looking at doing one of these procedures in the Lafayette area. Any recommendations?

Had mine done by Dr Williamson in BR about 20 years ago. Highly recommend them. Not really Lafayette, but one of the few things in life worth crossing the basin for.

LASIK does cause night blindness and according to an ophthalmologist friend of the family, it's not good to have in your forties or older because of age related changes in vision... there are also halos around any light you look at. You can have it done again but it builds up scar tissue. Would not recommend.

I'm 60 and had LASIK about 20 years ago. None of that is true for me nor my wife (who had it the same time as me).

Well frick me I got mine done at 39 a couple years ago and I love it.
Dry eyes were an issue for awhile but has subsided.
Haloing around bulbs bothered me for maybe a year but I haven't noticed in forever.
Don't think I had any night blindness but the headlights of cars really seem to have that starburst look to them but I also didn't mentally record what it looked like before. This has also not bothered me for well over a year now.
I was blind as shite and wore contacts and glasses. Even if this is only 10 years of relief it was worth it.

I had mine done at Eye Medical Center @ OLOL.
Twenty plus years later, I still have 20/20 vision.
Dry eye is more common in women than men.
I had both my eyes done the same (as opposed to having one done for close up vision and the other for distance). I can see far away objects but I can't read much that's right under my nose. I can read my cell phone texts about a foot away from my face.
Best money ever spent!

I had dry eyes before I had LASIK at 44. Uncomfortable contacts with the dry eyes is why I went with LASIK. I've had 16-17 years of great distance vision since then and no problems with dry eyes or night vision.
I am dependent on readers now, but Dr Singer said that would probably happen anyway by late 40s.
Dr Singer did a great job and I'd recommend him to the OP if you can travel to Metairie.

I had LASIK in my 30s, about 20 years ago. I have no halos at night and no dry eyes.
I think your broad statement from your ophthalmologist friend is not something that should hold enough weight to dissuade people from getting the procedure.
For me, getting LASIK was life changing and good money spent.

FWIW it can complicate cataract surgery if you need it later, which you probably will.

I had it done back in 2005 and have zero of the issues you're talking about.
Best money I ever spent. Pays for itself and never having to deal with glasses or contacts again is an added bonus. Still have 20/20 vision. I always highly recommend it to people who are candidates for it.
Doctor who did mine retired but I've heard a lot of good things about Dr Williamson.

That's about the time I had mine done and I do have those problems and there is no way to undo lasik.

Can I be put under to get it done? I really dont think I can be awake and have things done to my eye. Kind of freaks me out.

They gave me Valium for the night before and morning of and I was fine

Pls. Stay away from PRK. Too many horror stories from this procedure !
