Most employees I'm assuming. Which wouldn't surprise me that a research university in a very small and rural state would be the largest employer.

I'm very surprised Regions is bigger than Liberty Mutual. Is it biggest within the state, or biggest based within the state? Because Liberty Mutual's home base is the Ham. Liberty Mutual is the largest in Massachusetts...and I would bet there are several giant corporations in Boston.

I would think there's some big coal companies there.

The shittiest ISP in America. I have them and they haven't upgraded shite since 56K modems went out of date but I also live in BFE so at least I don't have to rely on satellite internet I guess.

I didn't realize Chevron was in California. Just not a place you'd think of harboring one of the biggest o&G players in the world, ya know?

There's significance drilling in Cali, just not offshore.

Chevron was just the west coast division of standard so that's how it ended up there

They are HQ'd in CA and all their r&d is done in the Bay Area along with some pretty big refineries in the state too.

The list was compiled using a revenue ranking. Each business listed has the highest revenue in their home state.

Makes sense since Nebraska is Berkshire Hathaway.

WVU's money comes from their health system which basically runs their state's hospitals.
