When going to Austin, stay in the West side.

East Austin, West Memphis - what's the difference!
I don’t know if I'm missing a joke here but West Memphis is a truck stop town in Arkansas.

East Austin has been gentrified to hell but some ghetto elements have endured. It’s still safer than most other Southern hoods. The worst part of Austin is Rundberg Ln/I-35 in the northeast side. That’s the only spot that I’d be afraid of driving through at night.

Looks to be a daiquiri bar in the vicinity which is worse than a pay day loan store opening up

What’s so bullshite about the tweet. The community note is just basically scaling down the dangers to others and not active shooting anymore even with one suspect still at large. The tweet was soon after it happened. The article came later.

Community note text:
quote:

Austin police report two people were injured in the shooting outside Sam's BBQ; no fatalities and no immediate danger to the public with suspect at large.

From the article used in the community note:
quote:

6 injured, 1 charged in East Austin shooting outside Sam's BBQ; police seek second suspect

Six people were wounded and one man has been arrested after gunfire broke out Sunday night outside Sam’s BBQ, a beloved East Austin restaurant, according to Austin police.

Officers responded to the shooting at about 8:26 p.m. to the 2000 block of East 12th Street, near 12th and Chicon streets. Investigators said the gunshots followed a fight between two men, and that people nearby were hit when gunfire was exchanged. One of the men was arrested, but police are still on the lookout for the second.

Austin police identified the arrested suspect as 24-year-old Wesley Earl Brown. He was booked into the Travis County Jail early Monday morning on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Of the six people who were shot, Austin-Travis County EMS transported two of them, while four others arrived at hospitals on their own, police said. The injuries were not life-threatening and all six people are in stable condition.

Seems like it’s just an update to the tweet from just after 11 last night.
Original tweet:
quote:

??#BREAKING: Multiple casualties have been reported following a large-scale shooting

??#Austin | #Texas

At this time, numerous emergency crews are actively on the scene in East Austin, Texas, following reports of a large-scale shooting. Officials have confirmed multiple casualties, and the suspect is believed to have fled the area, prompting an active search. The exact number of fatalities and injuries remains unknown as authorities continue to assess the situation. Residents are being urged to avoid the area while law enforcement secures the scene. This remains a rapidly developing situation

Having never been to Austin, I bet there is a Martin Luther King Blvd within 5 miles of this shooting.

Not too confident, are you?

It’s actually less than a mile.
