remember when they said they wouldn't allow any more of these because the infrastructure couldn't handle them?

The 40 subdivisions approved in Gonzales didn't count I guess.

The most egregious example is the one on the other side of Pelican Pointe. It's called Riverton; and it will have almost 800 homes when it's done and only one entry/exit point. You have to take 22 to get to that development.

But...it's convenient to both Baton Rouge and New Orleans. So it's going to sell and fill up quickly. And traffic on Highway 44 is going to be so much worse because of it.

same with the huge shopping area thing going up near the intersection of 44 and 30. And the bazillion strip malls that continue to pop up.

I don't see how they can do all that they have planned without widening Highway 44. They've made it 4 lanes in front of this development, but it narrows to 2 lanes north and south of it.

And 30? Should have been widened years ago west of Airline all the way to Baton Rouge.

I don’t know why people are shocked. This is why I get so animated with the “back in my day” crowd. You didn’t have to pay $400-$500k to live in a place with decent schools. And in AP, this is what that gets you.

Louisiana is either going to be a real estate Mecca or a grave yard in 10 years.

Still ugly. I hate cookie cutter, close homes. My daughter has a beautiful DH Horton home, I wouldn’t touch it. Her saving grace is her back yard backs up to the woods so it’s like living in the country with the peace and sounds of nature. I’d still take an old house with more property and individuality over new developments any day. Denham Springs 2016 flood will repeat in many areas in due course, too.

The fix is to pump water from the retention ponds when there isn't a lot of rain, so that they have more storage capacity during rain storms.

Board engineers and related industry pros will be here to tell us all how great the drainage and retention ponds and to ignore our lying eyes.

AP ain't widening shite. Residents might have to pay taxes if they did that sort of thing.
