How do we even know the girl has been shot? I see a bleeding girl. The only one claiming she was shot is you. You’ve literally linked NOTHING besides two still frames with you claiming they were shot by police.

The one of the man in the WC is more believable that he was hit with a projectile. Otherwise there is still literally no context to what was going on.

A young woman, who said she had not been part of the protests, was walking home downtown with groceries Saturday evening when she was apparently struck by a pellet fired by police.

A reporter with the news also said she told reporters the same thing.

Hopefully she learned her lesson to not walk through a riot zone where people are looting & burning cop cars

Yes, maybe she didn’t deserve to get hit, cops shouldn’t shoot if they aren’t sure of Target & the dept should have to pay her medical expenses but nothing more

I am a cop, I will try my best to answer honestly.

Their is a difference between legal use of force and moral use of force. Although legally, the use of force during civil unrest gets pretty wide for people breaking the law (obstruction of a roadway, disturbing the peace, ect.), morally the use of that force may not be appropriate.

You saw it here, you saw it in Buffalo this past week, in Atlanta last week. The Sterling shooting in Baton Rouge was a clear example of it. Legally justified force, but morally wrong because of the lack of diplomacy in the initial
interaction and aggressive escalation in the use of force.

Your are going to see it again. Policies are designed to limit force to what is reasonable, however every situation is different and you cannot legislate morality.

Some officers forget why they became a cop and lose the moral compass that guided them into this line of work. I am not excusing it, but I am honest enough to admit it happens. Stress, long hours, low pay, and constantly being attacked in the media will take a toll on any human being.

Every cop I know agrees we have a responsibility to stop officers that cross the line, regardless if the force is legal or moral.
