Use a tiller on the area where you're laying sod.

Lay sod.

Just watched my landscaper do it on both the front and back yard at the parental estate. He covered the tree roots with the sod but these were not large roots.

Do i need to do anything special to get the grass to grow close to the base of the trees? Since i have several Yew trees in the yard almost the whole yard is within 5 or so feet of a tree.

it's not going to grow right up to the tree ring. no grass will without babying it as far as i'm concerned. How big are these yew trees? typically those aren't shade trees but shrubs. I'd cut those bitches out.

yews are dense so he won't get grass to grow up to the trunk.

I have been using these guys for the past 2 years https://landscapingbr.com. Very friendly and they always can come out in a rush if I am having family or friends over for a party. I highly recommend them!

I don't need it up to the trunk I can do a mulch ring but realistically how close to the trunk will it grow? 1 ,2,3 feet?

Can anyone recommend a brand of topsoil that contains everything I need prior to laying sod? I'm assuming I would want a mixture of soil/compost/fertilizer. Any thoughts?

Golfer

You are never getting rid of the dallisgrass, unless you have Bermuda and can get your hands on some MSMA. Roundup kills it dead as Dillinger but there is the fact that everything else is dead. That shite has my whole yard under seige.

One more question for the landscaping guys. Received my St. Augistine sod yesterday and noticed it was a mixture of green with alot of yellow mixed in.I laid it as soon as i got it but it has alot of yellow in it. The grass does not appear to be burnt but probably was dehydrated. Found out today that the sod was delivered to the nursery on Friday afternoon. So it was on the pallet for about 36-48 hours until it was installed on Sunday morning. Thoughts should i do anything special other than water it?
