The Political correctness has gotten way out of hand. It's a good bet that Mitch couldn't give two shits about those staues before this and he probably still doesn't. It's just another photo op for him to look so progressive and above it all.
Mitch has bigger things in Nola to worry about than a fricking statue. One example being the shortage of police officers, slush spending all over the bloated city budget, and the shitty shitty roads everywhere particularly in lakeview. But hey, let's worry about a statue more than any of those things.

I hope they turn it into a 4 way so the trolley doesn't have to stop at two red lights.

First off, frick Wynton Marsalis for even bringing this up and pressuring the mayor and frick the mayor for being a douche.
Now, a serious question....should the city council oblige and the statue be removed, what do you think they would do with it? Do they donate to the National Civil War Museum? Give it to a parish who wants it? At well over 100 years old no way they could destroy it.

Why not put it right outside the Confederate/Civil War Museum in the city? Maybe on the west side of the museum, they have the room for it.

Yes, Breesus's well thought out and articulate response screams hillbilly trash.

Landrieu is an idiot, no surprise.

Im sure Lee Statue in New Orleans has offended Mitch Landrieu his entire life. I bet all those years going to the quarter for Mardi Gras he couldn't even enjoy himself because of the unjust statue looking at him and working on his conscious. Tear it down Tear it down is all he could hear in his head!
Finally he gets a chance to fulfill a lifelong dream and he will not stop until it is done.
Long live the Landrieu's!!

Mitch is such an original politician. If these sights were such a public nuisance then why did he wait do long to make this move?
Talk about jumping on a bandwagon movement.

Defending people who fought for the right to own black people is pretty trashy.
Posted on 7/9/15 at 7:03 am to TH03
You never defend Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, etc?
Posted on 7/9/15 at 7:05 am to Breesus
They left the union because they couldn't own black people? Wow, TIL

A lot of major cities call them streetcars. The terms streetcar and trolley are interchangeable... but a lot of places refer to the ones on rails as streetcars and the ones on wheels as trolleys to avoid confusion.
Get out of Prairieville sometime...
