An Alabama developer has completed the purchase of a 304-acre site near Old Scenic Highway and Flanacher Road for Zachary Trails, a 621-lot neighborhood.

Zachary Trails Land Co., headed by Marion Uter of Daphne, Alabama, bought the site with the help of an $18.75 million loan from Trez Forman Capital. Zachary Trails bought the property in early March for nearly $6.7 million, the remainder of the loan will cover development costs.

This will be adjacent to the new Meadow View community that's under construction.

Note: The plot in question did not flood in 2016.

With a bunch of businesses closing or shutting down now's a perfect time to build a shite load of houses.

Isn't Exxon spending about $500 million to expand in that area?

RE is slowing down nationwide (with a few exceptions) and will continue to do so IMO

A $500 million expansion isn't a lot by today's standards. Surely not 600 new houses worthy.

It's a plant expansion that will create around 40 permanent jobs. Nothing that would support an entire neighborhood

Yes. 450,000 ton production expansion

Only 65 direct jobs though. There's definitely a multiplier with industrial expansions like that, but I'm not sure what it is exactly.

Glued in baseboards and doors that arent plumbed. My Dad got schemed into buying a new DR Horton and lost his arse fixing the place just to be sellable again

Like most of Zachary, much of the growth will be due to state jobs, Exxon relocations/transfers, and people moving out of Baton Rouge to access a good school district.

I read in the BR Biz Report that DSLD was their #1 Company for 2018. It is a sad state when track home builders are the best businesses and leading your economy into the future.
