I love Lakeside Mall. I hope many more malls can make comebacks as well. The gang brawls and shootouts that started in the 90’s started the downfall of many. Add in online shopping exploding in the early 2000’s, and it was too much for most to overcome. I do think the lockdowns led a lot of people to start missing the ability to shop in person. Lakeside hopefully can be a model.

It was all the way by the stairway leading up to the offices. Close to the vets entrance

I think they’ll be alright for awhile. Mignon Faget closed and tried to blame the mall, when in reality it’s because their jewelry is ugly and their clientele can’t walk that far

Yet they were able to pour a bunch of money into a new space in lakeside. Maybe they were right to blame the mall of la

The Baton Rouge blue hairs got used to the Towne Center location where they could walk right in from their handicapped spot. Moving to the Mall was complained about from the start.

We used to go to Lakeside to see new movies on occasion. Covington’s Star Cinema maxed out at 2 screens and I-12 hadn’t been built yet so going to Lakeside to see a movie wasn’t that outrageous. I remember seeing A Bridge Too Far there. One of my favorite parts of Lakeside was actually across the street - Lakeside News.

Lakeside doesn’t allow youths to roam unsupervised and has ample security. They planted their flag and it’s worked out fabulously

Easy parking

Nah, the parking sucks. That’s one of the only downsides.

Maybe you are not ancient like me.. but im old enough to remember when Morten Andersen had exactly what you describe, a sports bar with giant goal posts right in the middle of Lakeside Mall.. the name might have been the Goalpost,

I remember the goal posts. And I also remember when it shut down.

I miss the arcade, and two movie theaters.

That arcade was underrated.

Ah yes.. I forgot, this is the OT, where every poster is always surgically precise with their wording…. Next time I try to dredge up memories of a bar that existed 30 years ago, I’ll try and do better.. oh sorry, I apologize for not being more “precise”- it was probably more like 35 years ago .

Hey, what do you know ? I just thought up some more precise words: Eat shite, Loser !

Malls are starting to make a bit of a comeback in some places

It seems like in today's world a mall has to have experiences to attract people. People can buy shite on their phone and its easy. But if there are things there I couldn't do just anywhere I am more likely to go.

I cant really recall the Galleria in Metairie having any stores of note.. or any stores at all.. they may have, , but I only remember the movie theater - saw Stand By Me and Roxanne there- the video arcade and Denim and Diamonds, where I think my parents may have partied once or twice .
