These are good quiet neighborhoods where the recent shootings have been. Here's the one from last night.

No neighborhood is perfectly safe from crime. Eventually, even “nice” neighborhoods start having issues

The American south is turning into a mix of Brazil and South Africa. and just as bad, it still might be the best place to make money and live.

Not disagreeing with this but Nic Hunter (a Republican) is still the mayor.

That neighborhood was safe in the 90s. It’s for the poors now.

Guess you've never had to drive through Laugheyette to go to Houma/Morgan City/etc. on Hwy 90. Or drive to Broussard/Youngsville/New Iberia. Or anything on the south side of town.

This particular neighborhood has been devolving over the past 20-30 years.
It's not ghetto or anything, but it's not affluent by any means.
A lot of people just think it's nice like it used to be and don't understand it's one of the many areas affected by the continued expansion south and east. When the people moving into those homes leave these neighborhoods, who do you think will ultimately move in?
A major issue for more affluent people looking to buy is that I'm pretty sure it's in the FK White Middle district. That was iffy when I was in middle school 30 years ago and is terrible now.
*ETA: summary is University is devolving into Oak Park 2
