This is a popular topic here, at least the third time I've seen this very topic posted here.
I think it's a combo, I think there is a genuine accent in there and I think she also is playing a part and branding herself so she accentuates and plays off what's there to a bit of an extreme.

I was stationed in Japan by in the late 70's and there was another La. girl from Dinky Springs, La. that talked just like Lainey. They called me a liar for having no accent.

My friends from Monroe all had thick as frick accents. Sounds like they were from Arkansas or Mississippi and less Louisiana.

I can't speak on Lainey's accent as I don't think I've met anyone from where she's from. I'm sure she does have a twang, but probably leans into it. I really dislike this one fella from my hometown that has some success on TikTok that really pushes a "Cajun" accent. Drives me up the wall.
