LaCour's Carpet World reminds us that NBR is horrible for businesses

Hopefully, you all remember when Gravy was trying to convince everyone that North Baton Rouge was an untapped market with unlimited potential, but racism or some shite is what is keeping investors away. Of course, we all laughed at him (as usual) because green doesn't see color and if investors think there is a slim chance of success they'll dump cash into an area.
Well, the Business Report came out today with an article about LaCour's Carpet World moving to Perkins Road because they can't get any retail customers to come out to that shithole and all of their actual customers come from south Baton Rouge zip codes. Shocking. I'm surprised Rolfe's liberals arse let this run.

LaCour’s Carpet World has slated a December soft opening for its new location at 4665 Perkins Road, with a grand opening planned for January.
The family-owned business is relocating to the busy Perkins Road corridor near College Drive after 43 years on Tom Drive in north Baton Rouge.
David LaCour, whose parents founded the company in 1969, says relocating to the Southdowns area is a better fit for the store’s retail customers, who come primarily from neighborhoods in the 70808 and 70809 ZIP codes.

“It didn’t matter as much to our industrial customers where we were located,” LaCour says. “But it was hard getting our retail customers to go out there.”

In other news, people still buy carpet. Who knew?

They were probably losing market share to competitors located in SBR. Tom drive isn't really an abysmal area compared to most of NBR either.

I had to go out to a retailer North of Florida yesterday. 30 year old Debo looking guys riding bikes, generally dirty and old looking area. Just don’t feel safe. The amount of cash necessary to fix all that just isn’t going to happen.

They do all types of flooring and window blinds.

Tom Drive is NOT North Baton Rouge.

Tom Drive is pretty casual. Mostly industrial businesses and a big Alcoholics Anonymous chapter occupy the area. It starts to get sketchy going north though

Not an abysmal area but it is out in BFE compared to south BR.
If you have choices of multiple businesses to buy from for service in SBR, why drive to NBR unless the prices or quality is unmatchable?

The only hope NBR has for success is to build off of areas like Old Goodwood, Mid-City, Tara, Government and Downtown. Which will be called gentrification. No one is investing in NBR unless it is highly subsidized.

Rolfe Sr. Was a good friend of Pops19 and represented me (off the books) in Jan '93 for a small potatoes civil matter. After meeting with him at his office, he and Dad were going to lunch. Rolfe says, "19, come back by Monday and see me." And I say "But...isn't Monday a Holiday?"
He and Pops look confused, then bust out laughing. Rolfe clapped me on the back and said something I would be banned to repeat.

I used to go to the 10pm meeting at Club 12 on Beaumont/Tom and the area is a pretty damn quiet after dark. Only reason I asked

What was the name of that strip club on Tom Dr where the sign would always say something like: "10 hot women and 1 ugly one"
Remember that shite?
Edit: I think it was Sugars?

Well this probably isn’t the best business to open in NBR for starters. I would imagine the overwhelming majority don’t own homes so why would they need flooring, carpet, etc?
