Fair enough. I think trying to get a big dog like that in an apartment without a yard that you can just let him run around in unleashed might be a little much, probably especially for a first time dog owner. I don't have much experience with this particular breed, but I imagine that especially in an apartment environment this breed would require long walks every day. And this isn't like a gym New Year's resolutions that people shirk off on. You can't neglect this because it affects both the mental and physical health of the dog.

Do you have a yard? Patience? Dyson level vacuum? Lint rollers? Patience? Training smarts?
Patience?
Patience?

Too high strung for me.
We're in the middle of a move from Florida to Texas, and I hadn't seen the younger lab in 2months. She was laying down, sees me, no reaction whatsoever. I literally had to step over her, nothing. The other one I thought was going to have a heart attack from being so excited.

You might as well start chewing on everything you own now. Get to it before the lab does.
And not just shoes and underwear. I've watched a lab eat an outside corner of a house. I knew one who ate the floor of a porch. Then there's the constantly wagging tail, which will sweep anything off a table around that height.

Aussi's need just as much space as labs. Lots of energy.

Get a senior one that's older already house broke but still chases a tennis ball occasionally & can hang out at the occasional out door patio bar go for walks & gives you very little problems. Won't need the yard like a puppy

Mine ate all my window sills in my master bathroom.

Mine does fine in an apt. She loves to play, yes..but she's content lying on the couch too. Try to take her out for a few minutes after work each day but she's not an "exercise an hour a day or I'll tear your place apart" kind of dog. Didn't chew as a puppy either

We have a normal size Aussi. She was active as a puppy. Never chewed things up, but she loves people and gets really excited around them. She's 6 now and still goes outside plenty to play with our other dog. And we have a 2-yo now who is starting to wear her out.

Best of luck in your search. Like many on this board, I'd suggest getting a rescue because there are so many piece of shite dog owners in this state that will simply "hawl awf" a dog. Don't worry about the apartment, as long as you are somewhat active. I'm a runner, we lived in an apartment, and I took her for runs with me every day. Labs are very trainable. I pretty much taught ours all the basic commands within her first 6 months. They chew everything! I had to throw away some Merrells, but they're awesome animals. Good luck!

My lab mix (black lab and Brittany spaniel) is a pretty decent inside dog. Peed inside maybe 6 times total, never chewed up anything besides pulling the stuffing out of her kennel mat, and is completely calm (unless new people are around, but she isn't THAT bad in those cases). I think we maybe just got a good case, but we also treated her like a child and gave a lot of attention that first year. Very structured. Took her out often and did not let her roam the house unattended. Now, she can stay out all the time with no worries.
I would not want a dog as a single guy though. Every time you want to go see here for the weekend, you better be able to take them or have a dog sitter (boarding adds up).

My female yellow is 2.5 years old, chewed 1 shoe at 3 months old and hasn't chewed anything since.

They're great dogs but they take work. Exercise the dog everyday and make sure it has a bunch of toys to play with. That will keep it from chewing on your stuff. I also recommend crate training as soon as you get it.

I have a 5 month old chocolate.
She has chewed through the Internet wire on the side of the house 3X. She ate every single plant, bush, whatever in my backyard. Everything.
She also eats anything she can in the house. This dog eats more socks than you would beleive. If the laundry room door is left open, she mistakes it for an all you can eat buffet and loads up on socks and baby washcloths.
Walking through my backyard last week, I saw:
Poo with socks in it.
Poo with baby wash cloths in it.
Poo with baby wipes in it (she ate almost an entire container of baby wipes)
Poo with a pair of panties in it.
She has also eaten jewelry left on a counter.
Other than that, she's great.

We have a lab puppy. Great dog and is good with our young kid. You need to give him lots of exercise. On days that we don't give him much, he is definitely more mischievous and chews. He basically ate half of the outdoor place mat when I left him out unattended for 20 minutes.

Mine has never met a stranger. She barks and growls at guys but will just lick them and cry if they get close to her. Good chance she'll piss herself with excitement around girls, which was cute the first few times but not any more. I'm hoping she'll grow out of that, she's almost 2
