True story, I knew an old Italian woman that would me stories about how when they got off the boat from Italy her mom would occasionally buy live rabbits from various farms- she'd then break their necks and skin them for fur and meat. Those old school Italians gave zero frick about PETA.

You have to wonder how that would be tolerated today.

People willing to abuse animals, particularly defenseless pet animals, are capable of literally anything. Red flag for a serial killer (or one in the making).

I don't see it as terribly different than what she was arrested for, unless I am missing some big part of the story.

Why film it & put it on social media? I'm guessing this wasn't just a routine hunting/killing an animal for meat deal.

I don't think smashing animals against the ground is the normal method

Quite common for home butchers and birds(chicken etc...). I will stomp a rabbits head to put it out of its misery if not dead yet while hunting

This. if you're going to kill an animal for food it should be a swift and painless death.

frick anyone that gets their kicks inflicting pain on a defenseless creature.

That's not what happened here. And this was a pet. Not game. And the bitch put it up on the web hoping it would go viral.

Seriously devious.

Care to suggest a method for someone trying to kill an animal that doesn't have a gun or can't shoot because of location (within 1000' of a home, for instance)?

Yes it is. Did you even read the article? She even says on her Facebook page the rabbit was for her friend and that the rabbit was injured and she put it out of its misery.

Ok, so maybe she did put it out of its misery after her friend (Jazmine) injured it. But it sounds like her claim on FB that Jazmine was the owner is BS.

From the Houma Today link in the story:

quote:

The animal's owner alerted Animal Control about the incident before contacting the Sheriff's Office, Wolfe said.
Jazmine Babin, 18, of 133 Klondyke in Bourg was issued a misdemeanor summons for cruelty to animals for allegedly injuring the rabbit. According to Wolfe, the animal was allegedly injured after being slammed to the pavement but was still alive and was shaking violently.
Wolfe noted it was Babin who posted the video of the alleged rabbit killing online.
After receiving more videos of the alleged incident, a deputy launched a follow-up investigation. The second video depicted Duplantis allegedly slamming the rabbit on a pickup truck which resulted in the animal's death.

What was the point of the video--er, VIDEOS--if not for entertainment? I can understand hunting or killing an animal for meat, or even to spare its suffering, but this doesn't sound like that's the case.

Why on earth is that illegal?

She could have shot it with a gun and been ok?

She could have grabbed it by the head and spun (ie the chicken method) and been ok?
