"Some new features on Louisiana’s digital driver’s license could help keep drivers safer.

State Representative Ted James announced Wednesday that developers for LA Wallet are waiving the app fee for 30 days. James says the decision comes after recent safety concerns involving Uber and Lyft. Riders who download the wallet app will be able to scan a driver’s license to confirm they’re getting in the car with the right driver."

Great, now I wont get murdered by a Lyft driver.

Casino doesn't accept it either. Unless that's recently changed.

"The Division advises that Louisiana licensed casinos, operators and video poker licensed establishments may accept the DPS approved Digitized Driver’s License as an acceptable form of Identification."

"the Division is not mandating the acceptance of the Digitized Driver’s License in Louisiana casinos or video poker establishments at this time."

It looks like casinos in Louisiana CAN accept it but it's not mandated yet so they won't because they want to scan your DL so they can harvest/log all the data from it to profile you and market to you.

I don’t think they should be charging for this in the first place.

It would be nice if there was a function to access this when the phone is locked.

In true Louisiana fashion, the developer did not get paid for creating the app, but receives all of the money from sales of the app. I don't know who sets the fee for the app.

I used my earnings from the Google Rewards app to purchase the LA Wallet app when it first came out. I'm probably the only person that uses it at my voting place.

Are they phasing out the normal license at some point? I will probably stick to that forever....just seems easier.
