Much better now that they have certain desks that only work on certain issues.

I want you to imagine how fricking stupid it would be if you walked into a restaurant and walked up to the bar tender and ordered a beer. The bar tender says "nah, you have to wait on that guy, I only do liqueur." Meanwhile, the beer guy has a line wrapped around the building. So now you sit and wait an hour to order a beer while people trickle in and pick up shite from the other guy without waiting.

Every desk has the capability of doing any transaction. I sat in there the other day getting a tag for a trailer. I had to wait nearly an hour because they only had one window doing license plates. It took less than 2 minutes by the time I got to the desk. Any one of those mouth breathers could have done it and I would have been gone.

And the lady was nice and polite in the emails. Very helpful and responsive. Unbelievable...

Except they don't. People have been trained in doing a specific task. Going to the reinstatement desk and she will look at you like a deer in the headlights when you want to get a new trailer tag. She hasn't been trained in it, and doesn't know how to do it.

That is why it only took 2 minutes when you went, because the lady handling that issue was trained on how to do it.

It comes from simple efficiency study. When you have 75% of your customers utilizing only a certain feature, you will have 75% of your workers trained to handle that feature. Why train all of the employees in something only a small percentage of their customers use?

They responded to me after I mailed the check in. They refunded the money. Was not a happy camper for a while

Maybe not. Guess that is why they sent me to collections when I told them Im not paying for someone else clerical error in Jackson Mississippi (location of the guy who bought my vehicle) because they lost the title and registration and was never turned into Louisiana.

I got one that was dated for a 2003 failure to provide insurance when I moved out of state.

Called them a month ago and they said it was their mistake but they do show where they received my information for that in 2003 and would remove my name.

The fact they even had my account notated as being complete since 2003 and still sent me the letter is comical. I lived in BR my entire life but couldn't be happier to distance myself from that mockery of a government after I left LSU.

I had them send me a confirmation by fax, which they surprisingly did before I hung up.

Got mine resolved via email. Calling was useless.

Emailed the address on the letter. Got a quick response, scanned my proof of insurance (moved out of state), and received a letter that the fees had been removed a couple weeks later.

Of course, a week later I received more notices bc they suck and it probably had not gone their system yet... but I just ignored them.

Ask for a vehicle disposition form. You simply fill it out and certify that you disposed of the vehicle prior to your insurance lapsing. For the people who actually had insurance and someone else screwed it up.

There's no email addresses on these letters. And some look like really hurried poorly done photocopies of mass mailing letters.

Did not know this existed. I will certainly look into this. Thanks

Who makes payments over the phone these days? Do they not have a website that allows for online payments? If not, then shame on them. The technology has been widely used for over a decade.

Don't you as the previous owner have to turn in the plate in LA?

I'm still getting them even though I paid the fine back last April, before the letters went out.

I don't know if I still have a receipt back that far but I'm not paying those bloodsuckers one red cent.
They already got my money.

Meanwhile there were two OMV employees recently arrested for stealing $200k in payments that were made.

Plate was turned in. They are saying dates dont add up with me canceling registration in August 2015 and Mississippi issuing a new one to the new owner just 4 days later.

What are the penalties for non payment while the dispute is being resolved? I just got one for my son's car, totally a mistake on the DMV's part so am anticipating that it will take time to get it resolved based on all that I have heard & am reading here?

Very thankful that I'm not part of this. Understood that people should have properly followed up with paperwork, but it's become clear that this is a money grab that Jindal set in place prior to his exit. Probably a big "thank you" to all the people of Louisiana that spoke so well about his term. Or just another money grab for the hell of it.
