Only 1 is in a red state and has no state income tax.

All 4 I’m sure have nice suburb areas where you’d have a great life outside of knowing you were near the city.

2 have bad winter weather, Houston is frick as frick currently.

Given all factors I imagine Houston’s nice burbs are the most affordable.

Denver is landlocked. Doesn’t seem to have any issues

1. New York City= liberals are trying to destroy it but is a very cool city. Great public transportation with endless activities.

2. Chicago= winter sucks but great affordable places to rent close or in downtown. Public transportation is also really good. Like every big city stay out of the liberal areas or you will be robbed or shot.

3. LA= need money to live here. If you have it then it can be appealing.

4. Houston= nothing special about this city when compared to the other 3 cities. Just average. Cookie cutter neighborhoods and chain restaurants with a lot of traffic.

Lived in the Chicago area for 20 plus years, winters weren’t so bad because the roads are always cleared and salted so you’re never really snowed in

.I worked in Chicago one summer (without a.c.) and lived in Houston.

The Houston heat is oppressive, but the Texas "can do" attitude is so different from Chicago's just floating along with no sense of having any control of your life or environment in retrospect is a big no.

Chicago - winter sucks

I can say the same about the 8 month long summer in Houston. Give me the cold, easy decision really

Which of the four largest cities is the most livable?

Houston is most liveable because it's most affordable. But it would rank last among the four of places I would want to visit (which is why it's the most affordable).

Chicago is surprisingly affordable, at least compared to NYC and LA

Chicago is actually crazy nice outside of the bad areas of town. Tons of shite to do.

Yeah winter is brutal though, but I’m about that life. I survived the January 2025 Louisiana Blizzard.

I've never been to NYC to judge, so of the 3 candidates left, I'd choose Chicago every day. Terrible winters beat the 10 months of summer in Houston.

It depends on what you are looking for. If you have to live downtown, Houston for affordability but climate is much better in LA. If you don't have to get downtown every day, I was able to pick up acreage with woods NW of Houston for what an apartment would cost in LA, NY, or Chicago.

If I was very wealthy, a home in all of them except Houston. But LA up in the hills with all the celebrities/tech bros would be my top choice.
