La. man taken charged for tampering with Blue Bell; deputies issue warning to copycats

BELLE ROSE, La. (WAFB) - Law enforcement has had enough. In the weeks after a viral video of a young woman taking the lid off a Blue Bell container, licking the ice cream, and putting it back in the display case, videos of copycats doing the same thing are now making the rounds on social media.
The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office says Lenise Martin III, 36, has been taken into custody after being filmed in a store licking a Blue Bell ice cream container, moving his finger through the container, then putting it back onto the shelf.LINK

Investigators say after management became aware of the video, Martin returned to the store and showed the clerk a receipt to prove he’d purchased the ice cream.
Management at the store later alerted investigators who questioned Martin.

Hmmmmmm...
So will he lick these charges, or will they stick to him since the ice cream technically wasn't his at the time of the incident. Or, will he sue the store and Blue Bell for selling him a "contaminated" product.

that only shows that he bought some ice cream, it doesnt show that the ice cream he tampered with was the same one he had a receipt for that he bought. it also has no bearing on the crime of food tampering which is still illegal even if you buy the item afterwards because you still tampered with it in the store and put it back in the case.
thats like saying if you are seen shoplifting you can just turn around and buy the item to avoid the consequences and its no longer a crime

He clearly puts it back in the refrigerated area so he likely just purchased some to try to beat it. I’m sure they’ll take a look at the time stamps and video if need be

The way it's made provides a food safe seal to the lid. Tamper resistant packaging is just an added expense that they didnt need until this generation of dipshits came along

it doesnt matter, once he put it back in the case the crime was done
its the same thing as robbing a bank, you cant do the act and then say never mind, just kidding, hand the money back and walk out the door. you still go to jail for robbing a bank even if you never left with the money just like he is still guilty of food tampering even if he bought everything in the store after

Blue Bell is stupid for not having some sort of safety protection on their ice cream. Every other ice cream company has seemed to figure this out.
