LA-975 off I10 to Krotz Springs - anyone drive this gravel road?

Decided to take a drive to Krotz Springs and wanted to take LA-975. When I got off I10, this road was gravel. I opted to go another route as I was with the family and didn't want to risk any chances. I originally planned W atchafalaya rd but this looked like muddy road today that made me reroute to LA-975 until realizing this was only gravel.
Is it a safe scenic route?

Totally safe. Just take it slow in the turns.

It is safe but long. It can get pretty “washboarded” if it hasn’t been graded recently. If you are in a car or nice truck I would skip riding down entire length. Not that scenic in my opinion. First couple miles you will see camps along river but after that pretty much just levee and woods. Right after camps there is a road to right ( Bayou Manual Road) that has an old bridge over the bayou where you can look around. Sherburne headquarters/ shooting range / boat launch toward 190 end.

975 has always been alright for me.
I rather take the butte la rose road. Stay at the bottom of the levee until the camps start, then run up on top for the rest of the way.
My wife and I make the run on the bike when we are bored.
We stay on the bottom and run 65-75 as it's more trail than road.
The top is just fine for a car though.

Is this the drive that is up on a levee?
If so, nice drive. Got a few livestock road traps..

I wouldn't take it in a car but it was fun in my old suv 'rally driving' my way to the shooting range.
It is usually well kept but can get torn up during hunting season. Also, really not too scenic unless you take some side roads and explore.

Only in La could a state Highway be a gravel road.

You either don't travel that much, or you're an idiot.
Take your pick.

As if I’d ever allow Clarence to drive on gravels.

I took it by chance one time about 4PM as I saw a fire starting from a wreck at the top of the bridge on I10. Those people were stuck on i-10 till midnight because the truck on fire had hazmat or something on it and they shut it down west bound to check the bridge for stability.

I've jumped deer and turkeys down there. Be on the watch out.
Used to be a dirt path to fish off of the bank right on the side of the railroad bridge near 190. Would be cool to checkout the river when it's this high. Watch out for quicksand though.

I went down this gravel road with my wife. We were driving towards Lafayette from Baton Rouge. Accidents on I-10 caused us to take US 190 towards Lafayette. Once we got to Krotz Springs we decided to head down to I-10 and use it to get to Lafayette. Apple Maps made no mention that the road was gravel and we didn't realize it until we got there. It was getting late and I was just hoping we'd make it to I-10 before we saw any Texas Chainsaw Massacre types out there.

I grew up hunting in whatever that wma is called off that levee road. We called it the Indian bayou hunting club. The levee road is safe, I’ve been down it in trucks, cars and 3 wheelers. I’d consider it mildly scenic.

Not sure, but years ago I went to wedding in Krotz Springs. It was held in the gas station, where the Justice of the Peace had his office. Definitely not the best wedding I’ve been to.
