Since I don’t own an Android, I’m not aware of the specs. Would an Android auto-compress an incoming file for any reason? If that is the case, and if she specified the Android as her preferred receiver of the file, would not the legal obligation fall on her to know the specs of her phone and the need to convert the file to the uncompressed format?

I guess it comes down to the user’s settings on the phone. But the precedent may be that the recipient of the file is responsible for the settings on the device. However, if the prosecution sent this to her phone when both sides agreed to the Drop Box, then that may also come into play.

It ultimately doesn’t matter because the judge isn’t granting a mistrial with prejudice, and definitely isn’t doing so before the jury comes back.

It’s going to be a hung jury and an automatic mistrial. The judge (as all judges do) is going to avoid making that decision unless he absolutely has to. The jury is going to let him off the hook.
