I don't mean that the flag is stupid in and of itself. I mean the way people make a huge deal out of it is stupid.

You hit on the salient point though your phrasing was designed to garner downvotes.
Symbols can be co-opted. The classic example is the swasika, which for over 10,000 years had meant good fortune. It wasn't hateful until the hateful began to use it as a symbol of hate. One can argue the Confederate flag was not initially a symbol of hate, but then the hateful started using it and it began to be a symbol of hate. Had the people who saw it as anything other than a symbol of hate had attempted to reclaim it instead of reacting in ambivalence or passive agreement it could have been saved. As it is it lives as a symbol of hate no more reclaimable than the basic shape of the swastika. The inability to accept this is just self delusion.
The klan and their ilk won, it now means what it means and simply must be accepted or live in delusion.

I got permabanned from that subreddit during the COVID shutdowns for merely disagreeing with some of the overreaching aspects of them. No personal attacks on the shutdown supporters or Latoya or anything. I’ll bet if Thoth threw Trans pride or Ukraine theme beads then it would have been the happiest day in that subreddit’s existence.

The Float Lt must have been right next to the guy or also on video throwing the beads. Seems wild for the Lt to get booted if he was not even near the guy. There's only so much they can do.
I could see some Krewes going overboard with response in future and requiring all throws to be purchased through the Krewe, which would be a racket.
