Krewe of Nyx to roll July parade to bridge Mardi Gras gap

Does this not start to cheapen Mardi Gras, especially if other Krewes follow?

If you missed out on the Mystic Krewe of Nyx's 2019 Mardi Gras parade, we've got some good news for you.
The all-female krewe announced at its member meeting Wednesday that they'll have their first-ever summer parade on July 27. The krewe says the new parade would make Nyx the first krewe to have two parades.
"The Krewe of Nyx has consistently raised the bar," Julie Lea, Nyx founder and captain, said in a news release announcing the new parade. "We think it is a great way to bring additional revenue and tourism to the city during the summer."
Lea also said a summer parade is a "logical and fun bridge from one Mardi Gras season to the next."

This is just the women krewes trying to outdo each other. I just read about it. They are doing some non-traditional route starting on Elysian Fields. It's a little odd.

My wife is in Nyx and she's pissed. She knew a big announcement was coming today but they were thinking it would be about a celebrity or something like that for next years parade.

About two years ago before Mardi Gras, I read about some former member of Nyx (an attorney) who tried to sue the founder because she proposed that the krewe throw signature tee shirts and after she left the organization, the founder decided to try and throw tee shirts. She tried to sue on the basis of it being her original idea. I had to laugh. She said the founder offered her $200 for her sample shirt idea that she presented, but she wanted a licensing agreement offer instead. The judge threw it out, but the fact that people actually had some kind of hearing about that is laughable.
