Dude, I know a lot of how things work in NOLA, my grandfather and his cousin were councilman and State Reps respectively.
The Uptown money are not "Dixiecrats" and have not really been close to being Democrats since the 1970's. They have their entrenched power in real estate, used to have banking and the Times Picayune. A lot of the power have their names on the old law firms ......like Denegre, etc.
The blacks go to them for money, sure and they throw scraps to them to get them out of their offices.
Yeah they probably would have rathered Desiree Charbonnet because Louis Charbonnet was a 7th warder that they had been doing business with for years. The only black political power broker the actually really respected was Dr. Henry Braden back in the day. They hated the guys like Jon Johnson, Johnny Jackson and Avery Alexander and the hated them with good reason. Plus there was zero love for Dorothy Mae Taylor. They tolerated Jim Singleton because he ran B in Central City.
I know how politics work in NOLA....that's why I live in Mandeville. I also KNOW how the old line krewes work....I know a lot of them .

Maybe through a SuperPac but she had the backing of a few local political organizations like SOUL and in NOLA that really is all you need.
For reference read up on Hazeur-Distance she was from Mobile but she had the backing of Jon Johnson back in the 90s and that is how she ended up on the City Council. She was the daughter in law of a close friend of his.

Uptown is district A and B. A is very much a Republican stronghold, but B in Central City and E in the 9th is where the vote happens.
I live uptown. It is anything but a "Republican Stronghold". I see more Ukraine flags than American ones, "in this house we believe" signs everywhere, and [Insert democrate candidate here] signs in front of almost every house. Maybe a few blocks near the park are GOP areas, but that is it.

Actually, it is. The houses flying Ukraine flags never once flew an American flag. It is just another example of leftists supporting [insert current thing here]

This is derailing my original point, that being Uptown is full of leftists.
But yes, it does matter, as it shows a general lack of patriotism. Most people flying Ukraine flags probably couldn't find Ukraine on a map before February of 2022 and are only flying them as their latest form of "Slacktivism".

Lots of liberal do-gooders in uptown NOLA.

Bill Murray put it eloquently in Stripes. We're all here because our ancestors were kicked out of wherever they were before. It's absurd for any of us to think we're some kind of blueblood.

We're Americans, with a capital 'A', huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts! Here's proof: his nose is cold!

I always find it ridiculous that things like this defines a certain party. Why cant a conservative openly support gay rights or whatever it is? Thats some of the shite that splits us.

I still can't comprehend how she, seemingly good candidate with old school Nola family, lost (and bigly) to Compton ape face.

I used to door walk and you are possibly incorrect.
Historically, any flag, including US was 75% likely to be Republican. Really easy way to know how to score $$$$ cold calling any neighborhood.
