Is r saying that he flew through a cloud, clipped a mountain, then hard impact bc pilot didn’t use instruments?

Very sad. Prayers for the repose of the souls of all those killed and that their families be comforted and strengthened at this time.

Damn. Been out and about all day and just got a minute to myself and see this. That's sad. I was in high school and a little younger during prime Kobe and Shaq Lakers days. I love me some Kobe. I can't believe this man.

LINKCoach Altobelli at Orange Coast College identified as one of the nine deceased. From ESPN

quote:

Orange Coast College baseball coaching legend John Altobelli was among the victims in Sunday's helicopter crash in Calabasas, California that also killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

Altobelli was a coach at OCC for 27 years, where he led the Pirates to four state titles and notched more than 700 wins. He was 56.

From my zero flight knowledge yea, that’s what my brain made of it.

Made the probable bad call of descending into cloud coverage, terrain comes on too quick to correct, they clip the ground, lose control, and obliterate on impact.

Explains the flight path when it suddenly course corrects. Probably the chopper spinning out and crashing.

I'm not a NBA fan and haven't watched since the early 90s but Kobe was a well known figure and a father of 4 kids, one of whom died with him. shite man, have a heart.

There was nothing left of the helicopter. It disintegrated

The fact that it's smack dab on that path/road makes me think maybe they were trying to land it there.

TMZ is a piece of shite organization.

Kobe's family found out through social media and TV that their husband, father, sister and daughter died in a helicopter crash before the Sheriff's Office could tell them in person.

Imagine opening up your phone's instagram, facebook and getting a ton of RIP, Condolences and whatnot texts.

Just despicable.

TMZ reported that the helicopter crashed into a mountain at 160 knots.
The helicopter encountered dense fog throughout. They circled around the L A zoo for 15 minutes before heading north. 10 minutes later they flew into more dense fog. The pilot turned south but was too low and crashed.

The sleazy tanned guy with chiclet veneers said that they had to put it out there. Said the public had a right to know.

Not before the family.

That was sensitive information we were not entitled to until the family got it first.

Report I saw earlier had the decent at like 4500 FPS with a ground speed at like 155 knots

4500 feet per second cannot be correct.

I think its pretty clear that this will be pilot error due to the weather. As said in that thread he was visually flying even in cloud cover instead of relying on his instruments. From what I understand that is usually the cause of bad weather crashes like this.
