I had a Kindergarten graduation way back in 1982 so this ain't new. As another poster said; it's a great opportunity to make positive memories for your children.

Didn't we have a massive thread a couple years ago on a Kindergarten graduation that was disrupted by a brawl?
O-T Link to Kindergarten Graduation Brawl that led to 3 arrests

The parents buy the kids new cars for graduation

It's been around for a long time. They are actually way more entertaining than HS graduations. Kids have no clue how to behave and always fun watching the one kid that starts eating grass or his own clothes cause he's bored. Then trying to find who their parents are, and watching the dad laugh as the wife is embarrassed as hell.

Hell, my parish was so poor that it couldn't even afford to have kindergarten
at the elementary school .

What is this nonsense? I mean what is the big deal that a kid spent a few months playing with blocks and creating refrigerator art?
Lets start complaining when Kindergarten graduation turns into what we've seen some people's 2026 Prom looks like.

You 100% either don't have young kids or you shouldn't. They're 6 and it's likely the first time that most get to have a feeling of accomplishment in their lives. Let them smile and have their little 30 minutes.

Both my girls had them, and that was 18 and 15 years ago, I can only imagine how over the top they are now
we're friends with a young couple with young kids, boy and a girl, the over production of every single thing gets nauseating, there was a father/daughter dance the night before the daughter's kindergarten graduation ceremony

the moms need content to post before summer vacations

This has been happening for 25+ years

I am 50 years old and had a kindergarten graduation. Let the families celebrate their baby moving up to elementary. I swear some of you are fricking miserable

Education is dominated by women and women need to be heralded for everything they do. No shock they would set up a banquet for any trivial thing imaginable

Kindergarten
Elementary
Middle School
High school (1/3 from kindergarten won’t make this)
But yes, probably so over the top. Just like sweet 16’s now too.

88 here. We definitely had one or the other at the little Christian school a lot of kids from my hometown went to for Pre-K and Kindergarten. This definitely isn’t anything new, but it does seem to be made a bigger event than it did 30 some odd years ago.
Born in 79 here, and we had K, 5th grade (going to a new school), and some kids had 8th grade (mine did not).
Now my kids had PK3 & PK4 promotional ceremonies, Kindergarten graduation, then HS graduations.
Most of our school does not invite any of their extended family for the promotional ceremonies; it's just for the parents and kids.

It's harmless. We had it in the 80s early 90s
Now in 2-3 years when moms start planning graduation trips and photo sessions on their beds where the kids surround themselves with paraphernalia of the local elementary schools and announcing they'll be taking their talents to River's Edge Elementary in the fall, at that point I'll bitch about it

Are you pretending like you didn’t know this has been happening, and in fact is quite common and widespread, for decades?
