Me and my wife were kinda planning out future family vacations and where we all wanted to take our kids.
For budget reasons, we are kinda planning international travel every other year.
Our oldest is turning 12 in a few months and it broke my heart that we likely only have like 6-8 more summers where she will be traveling with us.
I find myself already having to think about vehicles and the timing of paying off notes and whatnot so I suddenly don't have 3 car notes.
This all happened way too fast.

Can’t believe my oldest is 7 already

I've got a 2.5 yr old and a 4month old and I'm considering throwing another in the wife just to drag this out. Having a great time with my kids. I kind of like the pain the little one brings.

We all hear it. We all know it. But man, it happens faster than you can even imagine.
Or even faster than unimaginable. My daughter grew up at warp speed, or jumped to light speed, or bent the space-time continuum. I had the somewhat unique experience as a single dad raising a profoundly gifted IQ kid. Seems like just last week I was reading to her each night. By age two she was reading to me. Took her to her first LSU football game and she read 150 pages of Harry Potter during the first half, at age 7. She started going to classes at a university at eleven years old, now has multiple college degrees and in a couple months will be a doctor. All in the blink of an eye. Each day you have is special and to be cherished.

Mine 1st born turns 1 on the 18th. He is truly the best thing to ever happen to me. I never thought I could love someone so deeply until he arrived. He is my best friend and I enjoy every moment together! Future LSU Linebacker -RAB

Mine starts middle school in a year and a half. It makes me sad. She's not my little baby girl anymore.

I can't even read threads like this. Chokes me up. But to any new parents out there, soak every bit of it in. It's really something.

Like a whirlwind - soak it up - one at LSU and one graduating HS this year - empty nest coming.

The empty nest is fun as hell. You get to resume your life if you’ve done your job and raised the kiddos to be good, independent decision making units.
Enjoy affordable car insurance again but I don't think they ever come off your phone bill.

I have a 9 year old boy.
My middle boy is turning 7 tomorrow.
My youngest boy is turning 3 Saturday.
We are sitting in labor and delivery awaiting the birth of boy #4.
Crazy when a Facebook memory hits and shows my boys younger and it seems like yesterday.
I know it’s already been posted but “the days are long and the years are short” is the best thing ever.

I never thought of it that way but there is a lot of truth in this

How do I do all this when I am required to work and also takes 45 minutes to 1 and half commute
Posted on 2/4/25 at 3:56 pm to concrete_tiger
My wife just hung up from our daily who is running who to where and what needs done conversation
After hanging up I remembered that my older boy drives in two months.
All that frustration turned to a bit of melancholy.
I’ll be frustrated again tomorrow.

don't prioritize family enough in this country. We work ourselves to death only to look back and wish we spent more time with our loves when it's too late and laying on our death beds.

I just spent Sunday morning babysitting my grandson.
I was changing his dad’s diaper yesterday it seems. That shite hit hard. I read him the same book I read his dad 10,000 times. Splish Splashy Day.
It’s crazy how fast time really goes and how short our time on this marble is.

All true.
Until your first grandchild arrives. Then you can choose to start the cycle anew if you did a good job with your child.
It’s not quite the same, but in ways it’s better because you appreciate it more.

Our youngest will be 24 on the 14th.
Older 2 are married and we have o e grandbaby.
It all happened in the blink of an eye. I’m still adjusting to having only me and my husband at home. I refuse to feel old .. and I’m working on keeping myself healthy and strong. I want to be around for more grandbabies when that time comes!
