Kids addressing adults by first name

I'm starting to notice a lot of kids/children addressing adults by their first name only.
Seems so strange to me and disrespectful. As a kid I never would have been allowed to address one of my dads friends without using a "Mr." first.
I don't allow my kids to do it and I'm not sure what to think about adults that allow it to happen to them.

I'm almost 30 and still feel weird calling my girlfriends family by their first names

I'm 30 and still call people who I've known since I was younger Mr and Mrs. Feels weird to just drop it all of the sudden.
Pisses my Father in Law off that I have a hard time dropping the Mr before his name

My brother in law (wife's sister's husband) calls our father-in-law by his first name and it weirds me out.
I keep it Mr. Last name. Would have gone Mr. First Name in the southern tradition but he's a Navy man from Virginia. Seemed borderline

You use the generation rule.
If it's the generation above you:
Mr. (last name) until told otherwise.

If they had half a sack they'd tell the little crumbsnatchers to address them with respect.
Although I'm sure plenty of them don't deserve respect. Like pussy arse boyfriends that don't work

agree completely...I would have never considered doing it and if I had kids, they wouldn't do it either.

If a little kid calls me by my first name, I don't give 2 shits either way.

I'm 28 and I still call my gf's family "Mr." and "Ms." They are from New York, so they get a kick out of that.

I believe some of this is location based, as in, where you were raised. I grew up in NJ, through middle school. All of my friends' parents, we addressed by their first names unless we had never met one of them.
I attended HS in Virginia. Everyone, and to this day still do, address my VA friends' parents by Mr. and Mrs. Last Name.
Both are fitting. I see no fault as long as the adults are respected and are comfortable being called by either their first or last name. Sometimes it's more of the adults preference than the child's manners.

A friend of mine calls his parents by their first names
He was an only child & his parents never referred to themselves as Mom & Dad
Instead of "Go show your Mom" it was "Go show Mary"
It was odd

I have certainly always done Mr or Mrs first name , never last name. All my friends parents or my parents friends I always just addressed like that.
My 12 year old son doesn't do this to others, But his friends come to my house and call me by first name without the Mr. It is really weird to me. I am 37 and there is a twelve year old kid saying "hey Bobby, can I have more pizza?"
That's Mr Bobby you little frick! And yes you can have more pizza!!

It doesn't really bother me because I don't really feel like I've earned a title by not dying yet. But I know it's a cultural thing and it would probably bother me if I grew up with it as the norm.

My dad would beat me if I showed that kind of disrespect to an adult. I still call my FIL Mister. He never told me I couldn't so I don't.

I call my parents by their first names in professional situations or if I'm discussing them with another person.

I'm 37 and it annoys me when my neighbors little kids call me by my first name. That's why I've told them to stay off my lawn.

PS: You call that growing up?
OP: Every family is different, but in my opinion until someone is old enough to vote they should defer to older folks.
