I’ve had them for years. Had surgery twice to get them.
About 3 months ago I was passing one and it was the size of a sweet pea when I finally passed it. It was smooth instead of jagged so that’s the only reason it passed.
I kept it to prove I wasn’t lying
Doctor told me to start drinking a water bottle (16-20 oz) with lemon juice added. It’s supposed to help and keep stones from forming or passing before they get so big they hurt

I've had a few. It isn't passing them that hurts so much. It is when they aren't moving as they leave the kidney. The 10 out of 10 pain comes when they get lodged in a ureter as they leave the kidney and cause a backup. Worst pain I've ever experienced.
Yep. I didn’t even feel it come out of my dick, I assume thanks to the pain killers.
But that trip from kidney to bladder is the worst pain I’ve ever had, including some kind of Russian shock therapy I had after a broken femur.
First one hit and luckily I was in Jackson so I just went to Baptist hospital. The two hours there were hell, but it was gone by the end of the day.
Second one I had hit me on a Friday afternoon. Sent me home with meds for the weekend, by Sunday I was in the ER, Monday I was in the urologist’s office and found out it was big enough that they decided to laser it out on Wednesday. So I went 5 days fighting one.
I honestly thought I had something rupturing in the middle of the summer in a cotton field on the second one and somehow drove myself 30 miles to a hospital.
Hell.

Ask anesthesia to do an erector spinae block on you and you can get 24-48 hrs of pain relief.

I worked with a guy who had recurring problems with them, and like the OP he had needed two procedures in a relatively short time period. He had come back to work and started having that pain. He got sick to his stomach and had to call his wife to come take him to the ER. He needed to drive his car to the front guard shack because she couldn't come into the plant. He wouldn't let any of us drive him, so he drove himself. About halfway there, he passed out and veered to the right off the road. Fortunately, he wasn't going fast and there was a bit of hill before the river bank. He came to and called another guy who drove down and got him back on the road and to the gate.
He was a black guy, but during that he had turned damn near grey. We were legit worried about him

I’ve gone weeks before. The pain would hit and be unbearable for a day then nothing for 5-6 days and then bam back pain like you won’t believe. Burns to pee. Feels like you gotta pee all the time but it only dribbles out, and you can tell by the location of the pain in your back how far it’s traveled and how far it is from the bladder.
I was at work one time and the pain hit and I blacked out and hit the floor. Few seconds later pain gone and I was fine
Doctor told me my stone was inconclusive and that it looked like I was just good at making kidney stones. Great something I’m good at and it hurts so bad

Yours look like cuckleburs? Mine look like the asteroid surface in Armageddon. Pulverized them once, never again

Yep. Once they get to the bladder the worst is over. I've had 2 that got stuck between the kidney and the bladder and it was freaking horrible, debilitating pain.

Hot shower
Heating pad
Toradol
Flowmax
If it’s small enough to pass, otherwise it’s shockwave or lithotripsy

Kidney Stones suck
Would not wish a kidney stone on my worst enemy.

Unfortunately, my husband, myself, and all 3 of our sons (in their 20’s) are pros at getting kidney stones. Just FYI, cranberry juice is not good for preventing kidney stones. It is good for urinary tract infections, though.

Quite the opposite. It lowers the PH of your urine which can make them more likely.
I just eat entirely too much protein, so the cranberry and water are more for kidney health than anything.

Had a 1.5 CENTIMETER one in January. Lithotripsy turned it into a thousand little ones that blocked my ureter for three days. Not fun. Had to have a stent put in. Pray that you don't ever have to a stent put in or taken out. I've tried altering my diet but my dad's side of the family has a history of them which makes me 2X more likely to get them.

It struck me as having a direction sensitive chip in your kidneys similar to a smartphone and anytime it senses movement it inflicts pain.

Mine was put in by a cute Korean physicians asst. Taken out by the doctor.
side note: I remember having to pee real bad coming out of lithotripsy but I was woozy from the anesthetic. The bathroom looked like a murder scene.

It’s hard to describe the pain of a bad one to anyone that has not experienced it.
It’s unbelievable how fricking painful it is.
