fire the school board if you don't like it.

Face it, there is not freedom of speech in school.

he's honorably worn his shirt and supported his cause, but since it does have a symbol that falls under the policy he will need to get a new shirt.

They said he could change it, he chose to be suspended instead.

Kid would rather be suspended then adhere to some asinine cya zero tolerance policy. Dad probably supported him. Principal is a pussy who doesn't have the balls to make a decision on his own.

All is as expected.

what a misleading thread title

No ones gonna click on a thread titled, "Kid suspended for refusing to change shirt that was in violation of a standard dress code restriction."

I applaud the OP for actually including that info in his post, though.

kid was not suspended for wearing a pro-veterans shirt

kid was suspended for wearing a shirt showing a gun and subsequently not removing the shirt at the request of the school administrator

kid broke a school policy, received ability to settle to situation, declined settlement, and only then did the kid get suspended

Good for him. Now his folks should sue the school district and make sure principal enjoys 'early retirement'.

1)im always shocked how many people just go along with 0 tolerance policies and ignore common sense...esp since
2) the rule states if the object on the shirt is questionable it can be against the rules including weapons...it.never said weapons on shirts were against the rules...its basicay a judgement call by whoever is enforcing it..which immediately takes away from the 0 tolerance policy people blindly go with.

Basically people are fine with a principal not using the actual rule which calls for his common sense and going on a power trip. Esp. After the kid said no to the principal saying he was encouraging violence by a military tribute shirt.

Not kinda guy i want making important decisions

That kid should have changed shirts. That shite might have been okay right after 9/11 but not anymore. The military is back to being "baby killers" these days.

Where did you see this? Only thing from the article is
quote:

clothing containing objectionable language or symbols, including weapons

This shirt is in clear violation of the rule as quoted in the article.
