Kid Rock is an American badass

Not a fan of his music, but there are plenty of stories like this showing how he's a stand up guy.
He might be a “Devil Without A Cause,” but Kid Rock also proved himself to be a real stand-up guy this week when he gave one of his biggest fans a wonderful birthday surprise.
In August, Dan McGurk, who has Down Syndrome, posted a video on YouTube in which he invited his favorite singer to his upcoming birthday dinner. “It’s not until the 27th [of October],” McGurk said in the clip, showing off his sizable collection of Kid Rock memorabilia.
“I’m the biggest and number one Kid Rock fan,” he said in the video. “Please be there for my 30th birthday … I hope you come.”
McGurk didn’t hear back from Kid Rock, and had no idea if the singer had seen his message. But it turned out the rocker had a big surprise up his sleeve.
On Monday, McGurk was celebrating his birthday at a restaurant in Clarkston, Michigan, when — you guessed it — Kid Rock walked in, singing “Happy Birthday.”
McGurk’s expression when he spotted the singer approaching really says it all:
Kid Rock heard about McGurk’s invitation through friends, according to the Detroit Free Press, and didn’t show up to the party empty-handed.
According to 99.5 WYCD, the “American Bad arse” star brought a hat, a photograph and a custom guitar as gifts.
"He got me lots of stuff,” a thrilled McGurk told WTOL-11. "He told me if I be good to my family and all my friends … I get free tickets to every Kid Rock concert."
Now that's one awesome birthday surprise!

I never thought anything of Kid Rock until when he played the Endymion Extravaganza. Not only was his show awesome, but when his set was done he came down and partied with everyone. He was literally as down to earth and easy to get along with as someone who had never seen the spotlight. I have had much respect since then

I volunteer with adults with down syndrome, so this one hits home. I'm crying like a baby right now.
Props to Kid Rock.

A friend of mine worked for a company that does business with Kid Rock. Met him several times and said he was one of the nicest guys in that business he had ever met. Real down to earth, hung out with everyone, etc.
Not a fan of his music, but this is a cool story.

To his credit, he was only charging ~$20 a ticket on one of his tours. Great gesture to fans.

I always laugh when people tell me that they feel sorry for them. Your average person with down syndrome is ten times happier than your average person without it. They just love everyone and everything. My favorite person on the entire planet a guy with down syndrome. I was working at a summer camp, and he was so damn cool. He was the chillest dude you've ever met, and he had no voice box, so he whispered everything, which only made him more chill. During the potato sack races, another counselor and I carried him through each jump on our shoulders. It was a photo finish at the line, and everyone was going nuts. I had tears in my eyes because he was so damn happy.
