I did, officially cigarette free for 70 days today. Cold turkey essentially, used the gum for 2 days and put it aside.

I quit on Sept 1 2016 cold turkey. I'd spent more than a decade trying off and on to quit with nicorette, chantix, vaping.....all of that is trash.

I just read this, went to sleep, and never smoked again: https://prdupl02.ynet.co.il/ForumFiles_2/15119301.pdf

I stopped in November. But I’ll still have a lung dart when I’ve been drinking.

I just 2 weeks ago quit after 25 years. My daughter asked me to quit so I took a pinch from a full can and gave her the can to throw away.

Its tough because everyday I want one but in another few weeks I probably wont miss it.

I quit a few months ago. My only regret is that I was too weak to quit sooner. Once you escape the nicotine fog and your brain chemistry goes back to how it’s supposed to be, it feels really good.

I both long for and dread the day I quit dip forever. It's a very weird feeling of love and hate. I guess that's what addiction is for a self aware person who knows it's time.

this is the wrong way to go about it. challenge yourself to do a day, then two days, then a week. the time i succeeded is when i didn't say i'm quitting forever, i just told myself i didn't want one at that moment and the moment gets longer and longer.

good luck, and join an online checkin group. that helps.

I quit last June after 45 years. I smoked 1-2 packs per day, and quit for a few years here and there. I had to quit; my lungs felt like they were on fire. I had a couple one morning in August. None since. I quit cold turkey, no patch, no gum. I just stopped putting cigarettes in my mouth and setting them on fire.

My lungs screamed for weeks after I quit because of the barrage of insults I gave them for years. This slowly got better; but they're still achy sometimes, particularly if walking in cold air. Staying hydrated helps. This is normal; the cilia is growing back and irritates as it grows out.

I'm never going to smoke again. I'm lucky I didn't contract lung cancer. I don't miss it much.

You still need to have regular checkups. The damage to your lungs is irreversible and you will still have a higher risk for lung cancer than a non smoker or someone who stopped smoking by age 35. Good news is you greatly reduced the chances of developing other smoking related diseases.

deployment I woke up one morning and it was like a flip had switched in my head. I had smoked maybe 8 hours prior, but since I woke up that day almost two months ago, I haven't had a single urge, relapse, and even hate the smell now. It's weird. I'm glad I kicked it though. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Congrats.

Smoked a pack of Marlboro lights every three days for years. Went to e cigs (mistic) 2 years ago. Quit those 3 months ago. Haven't gone back. Have really bad cravings twice a day but it passes quickly and I know it will pass and that knowledge helps me ignore it. Its hard so I cant imagine how hard it must be for pack a day smokers or people addicted to drugs. Good Luck.
