Yes, you read that right. WHAS reports the state Department of Criminal Justice Training is looking for volunteers to participate in one of their Field Sobriety Training sessions over the next few months.

Participants will be given "regulated amounts of alcohol" to help Basic Training Academy recruits practice field sobriety testing within a controlled environment.

The department says participants will be given an option of bourbon, vodka, or rum that can be mixed with Coke or orange juice. They're not permitted to leave until they have a blood alcohol level of 0.00 on a breathalyzer test, even if they have a designated driver or someone else to pick them up.

The volunteers will also get a free dinner, snacks, and will have a place to hang out while they "sober up." Each will also get $100 for their participation.

The training sessions will be held at the Eastern Kentucky University Campus in Richmond, KY on March 21, April 25, and June 6.

0% chance this doesn’t end with someone getting arrested for real.

Arkansas does this as well, and has for years FTR.

I don't think it's THAT uncommon and I wouldn't be surprised if there was somewhere in LA that did this same thing.

Do I have to supply my own adult diapers, or are they okay me pissing my pants in front of the new recruits?

I did something like this when I was in college, except for free. And they let us leave. After it was all over we drove to a friend's camp on Belle River.

A state trooper made me 8 screwdrivers that I consumed over a 2 hour period. I then did a couple of field sobriety tests. The "eye" test was relatively new and the local cops were being trained on it. I passed every coordination test. One cop questioned my eye gaze reaction, but wrote it off because I wore contact lenses.

Here was the scary part: I blew a 0.141. At that time, 0.10 was the legal limit. It was a wake up call for me as to how little it took to be above the legal limit. I talked with the trooper about it and told him that not only did I not think I was drunk, but that if I was out in a bar at closing time I would offer to drive for a friend who was drunk. He assured me that his machine was properly calibrated and that legally, I was drunk and would be arrested if I was driving, stopped and tested.

Here's the amazing part, and take into account this happened over 30 years ago, he told me that while I exceeded the legal BAC, I did not appear to be very impaired. He said I don't want you to think I'm suggesting you drink and drive, but if you've had a couple of beers and get stopped for something, just answer the police officer's questions, be courteous, don't talk too much and they'll probably never want to do a sobriety test.

The moral of the story is that you don't have to drink that much to blow a 0.1 and even less to blow a 0.08.

Over how long? Our trooper had a maximum he could give each participate, based on weight and, possibly, drinking habits.

I think it was 2 hours. One shot per drink. They told the recruits that half of us were drunk and half werent and they had to do field sobriety on us and figure out which ones had been drinking. In reality, all of us were drinking for 2 hrs straight. About 1/2 thought I was drunk. I blew a .09

They were in little chickenshit 8oz cups and he was using a jigger to measure the booze. It was no more than 12oz of vodka, and might have only been 10oz, over two hours and I was about 200 lbs and a regular drinker.

True.

But there is a big difference between blowing a .2 an hour after a few rounds of shots while drinking a few pints and blowing a .08 after 10 hours of day drinking.

I've been shitfaced and passed. And I've been relatively sober and blown a breathalyser to bits
