The LSP Academy was doing this in the 90’s. I drank at their bar many times. The fun part was being an arse to the cadets and knowing I would not get arrested.
The other fun part was drinking to the point I just knew I wasn’t going to pass the BAC test and still only blew a .8.
I think the most I ever blew waa a 1.4. And I still passed the field sobriety test.
And the troopers would drive me home. Nice touch when the neighbors would see me stagger out of cop car.

We did something like this in my fraternity days. However we got service hours instead of getting paid

They do this with groups a few times a year at wildlife and fisheries in Baton Rouge. Really not that crazy of an idea for training rookies

If you can pass a driving test and the sobriety tests over .08 then you should be clear to drive up to the level to which you fail the tests.
