Call me white, but I don’t care for black people music. It’s like, the more time I spend reflecting on my investments and giving back to my neighborhood, the farther I get from where their music comes from and what it’s all about. I tell you good chaps one thing though, those Rap Snacks are legit. Seriously about to open a bagga dem Migos Sour Cream With A Dab Of Ranch. Mmmmmm, frick whitey.

I understand rap isn't for everyone.. I like rap, but not all rap. There is some pretty basic shite out there, but there are some pretty creative rap artist.

As for as "spreading a horrible message". Whether it's rap, rock, country, etc.. At some point they all make songs about fricking and doing drugs/drinking alcohol. Is one better than the other just because they use different words?

It's a good album but GKMC is his best album. And lol at anyone who says they've never heard of Kendrick to be edgy

Wasn't there a dude on the Music Board who got banned because he kept posting only pro-Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake threads a while back?

Vindicated.

Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City > To Pimp a Butterfly > DAMN.

Him winning this award would seem a lot less weird if some older, equally deserving rappers had won. Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, maybe even Public Enemy all made "literary" hip hop that had a lasting social and cultural impact and critical merit.

I haven't listened to Kendrick enough to form an opinion. I love the Swimming Pools song, but that's about as far as I go.

The point you make is fair, though. I wonder if it's this Pulitzer Prize committee trying to atone for past oversights, actually honoring a deserving artist, or trying to appear hip.

Usually, the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but we'll never truly know.

This was actually surprising to me. I am a big fan of Kendrick Lamar. He is one of the few rappers I listen to, because most of the artists out are pure trash.

Thing is, DAMN was simply not that great. It had a few good songs, but it was not that great. This was simply not his best work, at all. In fact, I would argue it was his worst album he has put out to date.

I am a firm believer that his first album, Good Kid, Maad City was his best work. That was a literary masterpiece. GKMC is one of the best rap albums of all-time imo. If anything should have won a freaking Pulitzer, it definitely should have been that.
