Good to know and good to hear they are to rebuild. I see they have the construction fence around it. Of course that is just to keep folks out of a burned unstable structure until demo.

Fred, you are here in Katy. Maybe longer than me (2005-6). That location is one of those cursed locations. In our time here it has been no less than 5 or 6 things. All Mexican places. And all have failed. Some were good and some dogshit.

I just thought El Tiempo was beyond a certain price point for the burbs. It's packed one day and not the next? Their food is great. And leans more toward mex than Tex. Being a little greasier and more "authentic" IMO. The frozen margarita is the best around. In both taste and efficacy.

It was popular with many people that I know.

Some of the problems with the previous places varied. The guy who owned the first place there sold it to an investment company after a good offer. He owns the dental business in that strip center.

The other places catered to people with kids with the play area and many people like me without kids stopped going.

When Lorenzo, started El Tiempo there the kids area was removed. It is a good place to hang out on the patio when the weather is nice. He is planning to rebuild. We have made friends with a few of the servers and he has moved them to other locations to keep them employed.

The owner is a great guy and takes care of his employees. We used a couple of the employees to serve for some parties and they are great people.

I am happy to hear that it is being rebuilt and think it will succeed.

As much as I support Lupe, El Tiempo is the best Tex Messican in Houston.

False. Best place is on westheimer and has a cult following.

But not good enough for you to spell their name right.

True. Never pegged down what it wanted to be. I've been on both sides with kid now and without. They had a huge bar and outdoor patio before. The bar got kind of trashy for a while. Some trashy katy 20somethings seemed to frequent it. But that was in Los Trios days. I think that was the name.

I repeat though if El Tiempo can't succeed there they need to scrap it and make a damned gas station or some crap.

I have a few friends that prefer Lupe to El Tiempo, but most prefer El Tiempo

Personally, I think Lupe doesn't come close to El Tiempo

Their last name is spelled Laurenzo, like Laurenzo's on Washington. Not "Lorenzo."

Pretty sure it's days are limited. That whole block is/was supposed to be more mid-rise apartments.
