TH03 says that he never said the DA made a mistake. He only said that he was overzealous. I'm claiming that being overzealous is a mistake, by definition.
I'm typing of a phone, so the "it" should be an "if".

Ah, but there WAS a felony.

San Francisco and everyone that supports illegal immigration needs to burn to the fricking ground.

Isn't it a felony for a convicted felon to fire a gun in public?

It's a felony to possess a weapon as a convicted felon. Apparently accidentally shooting someone with it is ok, though.

Right so did the DA literally not show up to the trial or something?

The shooter will eventually be deported and will return. That part is infuriating.

Not in California

The jury had the option of involuntary manslaughter.
The attorney for the defendant successfully convinced the jury that it was a complete accident. That the guy picked up something wrapped in a cloth and as he was unwrapping it to see what it was, the gun went off.
And for all any of us know, that IS what took place. There is no evidence discounting that possibility.
and fyi, if in the future you plan on stalking me further, you should know that I sometimes posts things in order to see what type of people will endorse the statements and draw others into the open on a position they are only sheepishly voicing. It is educational and interesting to see who will agree with what, to post highly inflammatory or provocative content in order to see if others will support and endorse it.
Maybe you were also doing something similar with your highly inflammatory post that created this thread. With your post asserting that every Democrat in the United States is responsible for Steinle's death and has blood on their hands.

One other thing, and mostly just out of curiosity- Many here have said he fired the gun "Into a crowd". Where is that coming from, the idea that there was a crowd? I remember reading that there were several people out walking that night on the pier, but I don't recall the scene being characterized as consisting of a "crowd".
Does "crowd" make it more seem like the guy was trying to shoot someone? More than if the gun was fired in a direction more void of people than populated by people?

It is part of the territory, but it still has to be annoying for famous people to see someone using their photo as an avatar and a username that is a play on their name and then posting outrageous content as if it is representative of them and endorsed by them.
Content that is 180 degrees the opposite of your nature and something you would never agree with in a million years. Or in a million and one years.

Kinda like the outrageous comments Breesus linked that you have posted?

It could be.
"But in fact California law imposes harsh penalties for this offense. Negligently firing a gun is what is known as a “wobbler”—which means that it may be charged as either a misdemeanor or a California felony.3"
- LINK
Further...
"If you are accused of negligently discharging a firearm, and you have a prior felony conviction on your record, you could also face charges under California's “felon with a firearm” law, Penal Code 29800 PC. This law imposes criminal penalties on anyone with a prior felony conviction who knowingly possesses or receives a firearm in California.43 As a California felony, felon with a firearm carries an additional sentence of sixteen (16) months, two (2) years or three (3) years.44"
The individual had previous felons, and he had possession of a firearm, I don't see how it would be hard to connect a felon to the manslaughter/murder.
