My cousin lives in the Haven and she is very worried. My parents live not far from the laughable Dixie Garden levee. It is a FACT that many people in Shreveport did not care much for having their money spent on flood protection in South Louisiana before Katrina. Perhaps the influx of refugees changed a lot of that thinking.
ETA: My biggest problem in all of this, in case you hadn't noticed, is the subset of people who think it will never happen to them.

In Boss City, La. a few mil is plenty to say "f you" to most people you want to. In Dallas or Austin you better still be nice.

Yes, that made it much worse. I cooked, fed, medicated, housed and anything else you can think of for many "poor refugees". A few were very nice and appreciative, most were hands sticking out, griping and complaining leeches.
To have the audacity to complain that the dinner that was just bought and given to you was "cold and not very good",, or that "we're just being served sandwiches for lunch?" was just about all I could take to not slap a few "poor refugees".
Cry me a river......

I think you shouldn't judge an entire city/parish from some rumblings you have heard in your Shreveport circle of friends and family.

Hey Slippy, sounds like you do wish flooding or harm on somebody, seeing as the main point of your post is that Shreveport deserves to be flooded and damaged.
