Yeah I'm a true crime junkie but never got attached to the first trial for some reason. I'm all over this one though. Been watching motion hearings from yesterday all morning
It's a fascinating situation. The victim seems overall like a good guy, by townie standards, and it's sad that he died. Karen seems like an absolute garbage person, even by townie standards, but she absolutely should not be convicted. It's like rooting for the bad guy even though she's not really the "bad guy" she just has a shitty personality.
Watching the doc is entertaining as hell though. I swear half the people they interview could go to my gym. Boston through and through.

Totally get it. She's not a very likable person at all... There were several points in the doc where I said to myself, oh that's it no way they convict her now.
The vehicle garage video being inverted and the trooper actually spending time by that tail light was a big moment. Big enough for me if I was on a jury for reasonable doubt. There were other points in the doc as well.. But that was a big one.

I get it. At this point, I'm fluent in the Boston accent but I don't speak it myself.

OHHH and one thing in the doc that dumbfounded me was the expert testimony on the Jen Mcabe search for how long to die in the cold.. Defense expert says it happened at 2am or whatever, prosecution said no its because she had a search window open.. Defense then says that prosecution was wrong because they were using the wrong IOS.. Did this ever get resolved in the real trial? It seems it would be pretty simple to figure out with a couple of phones overnight. I mean if she did that search when the defense claims she did, that would be another reasonable doubt for me.

If you can, watch the MAX (or ID) show on the investigation and subsequent trial. It will help you gain a different understanding of some of the key points which will inevitably come up in this 2nd trial.
I binged watched all the episodes yesterday

I binged watched all the episodes yesterday There are about 5 total
I finished the 5 episodes Wednesday night. If you're talking about the "A body in the snow" documentary on MAX.. If it's something different I'll definitely give it a watch also.

IIRC it did get mentioned by the defense during cross that not only did they not use the same IOS but it wasn't the same phone model either.
I presume the defense expert will go into that, heavily, this time.

I can't believe millionaire experts are so stupid in this case. I can clearly see what happened looking at the autopsy photographs. The 25 mph is not supported by forensics. When a witness is caught in one lie, by law their entire testimony should be disqualified. His arm was caught. And there were attempts to cut off his arm for him to get unstuck. I could give side by side photos of the cuts and what i believe caused them. But fortunately for the defense this website doesn't allow photographs. It was Karen's car that smashed him.

Nope, nope, nope. Karen’s car did not hit him.

Her passenger mud flap has wear and tare markings identical to what was on John's wrist. It is a very good odds that it was from that uniquely used mud flap. And his shoulder clearly has three knife cuts. The cuts were not stabs, but more of a sawing motion. So not only did she hit him, she knew she hit him. It could have been to help him, or to free her tire. Because if a tire is stuck it is the same as a transmission not working.

It is like a tire going over a stick. The stick doesn't always break. A person unconscious has a different blood flow. Circulation gets cut.. So that made the top of his arm harder to amputate. There is evidence of an amateur amputation attempt.

Getting hit by a vehicle going 24mph applies exponentially for more force at the point of impact than rolling over someone’s foot.

I was, and still am convinced she did not murder him, but she is really coming off class A bitch. I get it, you’re fighting for your life, but damn, show a little empathy for someone other than yourself.
I just watched the part Allie McCabe, who wasn’t at the house that night, is in court crying while describing the harassment she was receiving. Then it cuts to Karen saying “it’s impossible for me to have any sympathy for any of these witnesses… they should be suspects” that was brutal.

I’m of the belief her demeanor is what swayed half the jury to vote to convict her. The foreman said “some people” voted xyz and “some people” abc. That means there wasn’t merely a lone holdout.
Will be interested to see how her demeanor changes in this trial.

Does anyone know if they're back in court arguing motions today?
