Pretty fricking psychodic too. Not real big on having a dog that weighs more than I do, and is fricking nuts.
Granted they are bad arse.

Friend has a Rhodesian Ridgeback. That sucker is big

I lived with one for about a year, and it was about 90lbs. Beautiful, and just all around great dog. Saying that, I would not want to be on the receiving end of an attack if it were so inclined.

I'd love to have one of those dogs one day

going after a bear who has been in cage?? that is some weak stuff

They are scaring the bear so it won't come back to that area. They are not hunting it.

Her Ridgeback is so tall, he can rest his head on their outside iron table. He runs and walks like a lion.

How serious are you about getting a ridgeback ? I've been looking for a home for my sisters dog. He is always kenneled up outside and they don't have time for him. He is a great pup , just wants to be part of the family.

That Russian dog makes the Argentinian Mastiff look like a house cat.

Have an upvote good sir. I love my dogos. Fearless to anything, but my 5yr old daughter gives them dental checkups. All in the breed. They were intentionally bred to destroy cougar, and hogs, but be big dosile baby's with humans. Will never own a different breed.

Kinda scary when they find a 250lb hog though. It has no chance. The tag team goes into full effect. It is honestly something amazing to see.

The dogs may be badass, but releasing a captive bear and chasing it doesn't fit any definition of sportsmanship that I recognize.

ETA, if I'm drawing the wrong conclusion from that series of pics, disregard my statement.

You probably are since there is an agent of some sort (wildlife?) holding one of the dogs in one picture. They use the dogs to "haze" the bears so they avoid humans, residential areas (where dogs usually are), and whatnot. Probably problem bears that have been in trash cans and dumpsters or something...eating dog food on a porch. I think they use shotguns with beanbags as well to haze bears.

Edit: Also, the bear leaving the trap has a radio collar on it, so definitely for science/relocation.

They were highly aggressive until they threw the Boxer into the gene pool. Great animals and great pets.

My next cat is from the same part of the world...

Kurilian Bobtail

They are big like a Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cat... but bob tailed (not a defect like a manx).

They have been known to catch 10-pound salmon from rivers and hunt in packs.

I had a Chow years ago and he was an a-hole. He bit everyone except me . My idiot ex husband let him get out of the house once. I was chasing him and my neighbor jumped from behind a house and grabbed him around the neck. He had to get stitches in his arm, hand, shoulder and chin.

I don't know. Chasing after a grizzly is pretty "sporting."
