German Shepherds are the most trainable, fearless and intelligent dogs on the planet hands down.

I had a Dogo that was a badass hog hunting dog but would not go so far as to say they are the baddest dog in the world.
The neighbors enormous rottweiler got loose and lasted about 1 bark once it got in my yard. That dogo took him down so fast that both me and my neighbor were impressed. Fortunately, we broke them up before much any damage was done. Damn dogs.

Dogos look awesome when they don't have their ears/tails clipped. I know it's supposedly for a reason - but I can't stand it.

You are biased so your contribution is null and void.

Just because it can jump a fence doesn't mean that another dog wouldn't whip its arse when it lands. German Shephards are good dogs but they wouldn't stand a chance against most of the dogs mentioned in this thread.

German Shepherds are the total package. They are extremely intelligent, have a high motor, eager to please, generally good natured, loyal and highly trainable. The force of their bite is rated in the top 5 of all breeds. Please name a breed more physically and mentally capable...

I'll take American Akita FOR $1,000 Alex

quote:

Japanese history, both verbal and written, describe the ancestors of the Akita, the Matagi dog (Japanese:????)(hunting dog, Bear hunting dog, Deer hunting dog),[12] as one of the oldest of the native dogs. Today's Akita developed primarily from dogs in the northernmost region of the island of Honshu in the Akita prefecture, thus providing the breed's name.[12] The Matagi's quarry included wild boar, Sika deer, and Asian black bear.[citation needed] This precursor dog tracked large game, holding it at bay until hunters arrived to make the kill. The breed is also influenced by crosses with larger breeds from Asia and Europe, including English Mastiffs,[citation needed] Great Danes,[12] St. Bernards,[12] and the Tosa Inu,[12] in the desire to develop a fighting dog for the burgeoning dog fighting industry in Odate in the early 20th century.

Akita's have great protective qualities but are harder to train than German Shepherds. German Shepherds are much more intelligent than primitive breeds such as the Akita. Male German Shepherds and Akitas are about the same size fully grown... I like the Akita breed but dont see how you could argue they are better overall than the Shepherd.

I have a German Shephard and an Akita. The shephard really isn't that much smarter. I actually had to put them in seperate pens because the German Shephard kept starting fights and kept losing. I'll never own another shephard, but I'll gladly buy another Akita. My Cane Corso recently had to be put down but I would gladly own another one of those as well.

Am sure he is fearless, but my black and tan, 2 collies, cur dog and husky mix will greet you when you come down my 200yd gravel driveway. And then there's the corndog. I guess I have a redneck security system...works for me.

Where would the Presa Canario fall on the scale of badass (obviously that depends on your definition of badass) dogs? I've got to think it has to be pretty high, but I'm no expert.
