I don’t think people have a hard time understanding that bad people have done some good things. It’s just when you are personally responsible for mass genocide I don’t think the good things matter. And when you try to be all I’m smarter than everyone in the room thinker and say “Hitler did good things” like Kanye does it just makes you an a-hole.

From my experience, the people who want to play the "the Nazis did some good things, and saying that doesn't make me a Nazi" game are, in fact, Nazis.

Hitler was a failed artist, soldier, etc., and like a lot of failures in Europe at the time, he fell into the trappings of anti-Semitism, because it shifted the blame for his own failures to people he saw as doing well at his and other Germans' expense.
Edit: In the case of Kanye, I think he's just being a crass, attention-whoring edgelord.

Well, it’s a LOT more nuanced than that. I mean, when you peel back enough layers of the onion, No government/state is GOOD.
People are complex. We do good things. We do bad things. Horrible people have done good things. People that were lauded as great people have done horrible things.
People that once did good things later went and did bad things and visa Versa.
I think you have to weigh the totality of things. Now Hitler…I’m beginning to think his mediocre work as an artist doesn’t outweigh the whole Jew thing…
It’s a stupid argument to start with though. Systems like that are made up of individuals, tiny parts in a machine that moves regardless of their personal will.
It’s more akin to someone saying “there were no good German/Soviet/Japanese soldiers.”

There was humanity on all sides.
