Sharks have been around for over 400 million years
The type of shark with the longest average life span is the Greenland Shark. It is estimated to have a life expectancy from 250-500 years
Cookiecutter sharks grow to less than 2 feet but have the largest teeth-relative-to-body size of any shark species
Shark embryos attack each other in the womb.
Hammerheads have a 360-degree field of vision..
Sharks are older than dinosaurs: Sharks were around 400 million years ago, which is 200 million years before dinosaurs.
Shark liver takes up 25% of their bodyweight
Bite force measures how strongly an animal can clamp down on its prey. In humans, the average bite force is about 160 pounds per square inch. For great white sharks, researchers estimate a whopping 4,000 pounds per square inch.Jump to references

it's nearly impossible for a shark to get cancer, scientists have been trying to figure out why for years to aid in human cancer research

Orcas will kill a great white and eat just the liver.

Like anyone could even know that.

The name Helicoprion means “spiral saw.” Almost all fossils found from whorl sharks were of spirally arranged clusters of the whorl shark’s teeth, therefore, scientists made educated guesses of the anatomy of this species. It’s guessed to vary in size depending on the species, so whorl sharks could grow between 3 to 7.5 m long.

This fact came up in a discussion about the Titanic.
Greenland sharks are opportunistic and not the pacifists that whale sharks are, so they are not above active predation at times. There has never been a recorded attack by a Greenland shark on a human.
Having said that, when the Titanic went down, many hundreds perished in the water and well over a thousand bodies (really, almost 1200) remain unaccounted for. While there is a high likelihood that some bone fragments and such remain down there in the cold, deep depths (James Cameron has visited the wreck over 30 times and has never seen any human remains), this is not a situation like Lake Superior, whose most famous shipwreck (Edmund Fitzgerald) likely contains reasonably well-preserved corpses. Titanic is a deep spot, yes, but in the open ocean. There are scavengers down there.
It is within the range of Greenland sharks (again, opportunistic who both scavenge and prey). Among the creatures who helped return the remains of the Titanic's victims to nature almost certainly include Greenland sharks. And some (hell, many) of those sharks are swimming around to this day.

Odd looking fella here...

Some pods specialize in this method. They know that sharks nervous system shuts down when suddenly flipped over, so they do that and eat the liver (with the shark alive, who then dies from "sudden loss of liver syndrome"). I mean, who wants to gnaw through all that cartilage just to get to the good stuff?

The ocean is salty because of the tears of misunderstood sharks

Must be why those brother Orcas were killing Great Whites and removing their livers around South Africa.
Remember those sharks that would breach hunting seals near SA? Yeah, they aren't there anymore because of two specific killer whales.

Stratigraphy:
Analyzing the layers of rock where a fossil is found, with older layers being deeper down; this is a key method for relative dating.
Biostratigraphy:
Using the presence or absence of specific "index fossils" known to exist only within a certain time period to estimate the age of a fossil.
Radiocarbon dating:
Primarily used for relatively recent fossils, measuring the decay of carbon-14 in organic material within the fossil.
Potassium-argon dating:
Used for older fossils, analyzing the decay of potassium-40 into argon-40 in volcanic rock associated with the fossil.
Uranium series dating:
Particularly useful for dating calcium carbonate deposits like bones and teeth, measuring the decay of uranium isotopes.
Electron spin resonance (ESR):
Measures trapped electrons in a fossil's mineral structure, providing information about radiation exposure and potential age.

There are no reported fatalities caused by a hammerhead going all the way back to when they started tracking shark attacks in the 1600s. Their head shape makes identifying prey easier and more accurate for them, so fewer accidental bites.
Thats also why doing the Great Hammerhead dives are really safe even though they are an absolutely enormous animal.
