It made me sad how shite America has become. To put it simply it’s Like America if we actually enforced our laws.

-No fatties
-I saw like one homeless person and he was picking up trash
-No mentally Ill people running the streets
-No gay stuff thrown in you face but gay folks were around being normal gay
-No trash on the street
-No one begging for change
-No street hustlers at tourist spots
-Subways clean and safe
-Women and children walk fre
One unrelated question: how many guns did you see?

Is this your way of saying that you believe Japan could retain the attributes extolled in this thread if it had open borders and a lot of non-Asian migrants?

Yes. The ability to integrate migrants into a broader culture is reflective of the strength of that country. The US does this exceedingly well, so much so that it erases the culture of the immigrants by the second or third generation. That is true regardless of ethnic origin and has been true for a very long time.

There are few long-term benefits to xenophobia. Indeed, the isolationist period of Japanese history (which was really more about controlling trade directly rather than completely shutting the country off) left Japan completely behind the rest of the world, so much so that the US could dictate trade terms before the US was really a seafaring country.

And it isn't as though the fact that Japan appears to be a monoculture to outsiders prevented internal upheavals or violent periods. It's just that the casual chud doesn't care about the details and is only interested in repeating claims about 'muh diversity' to exercise their own inability to see their own political desires met.

The fact of the matter is that, according to the FBI crime data, the US has had a lower crime rate as the country has gotten more diverse. Why shouldn't that be regarded as a tremendous victory for American sensibilities?

Sweden, the progressive utopia for decades is now struggling with this issue.

So Sweden is not a strong country. Got it.

Well, it certainly didn't cause the asset price bubble in the 80's, but it has impacted recovery, just from the hesitance from Japanese countries to invest in Japan itself. The effects of that movement of investment away from Japan proper are notable even in the US, where we've seen heavy investment from Japanese firms in the auto industry. In addition, Japan has an expansive investment program with respect to Southeast Asia, exceeding Chinese investment in certain areas.

Without steady internal demand, it is easy to see why Japan is focusing capital investment outward. The US, in similar positions to the Japanese bubble that caused the 'Japanification' process, recovered rather easily in comparison.

How many you see on an average day here?

Look at the big brain on Rog! Sweden, a country of 10 million people, isn't a strong country on the international stage. Making some big claims there Rog. Nicely done.

Curious as to where you read those FBI crime stats, as I've never heard of the country's crime rates ever falling. I seriously doubt that the crime rate has declined in places like Cali., Arizona, Texas, states that have been overwhelmed with massive numbers of illegal & legal immigrants. As well, my son has lived, and married a Japanese girl, in Nagoya, the country's 4th largest city, for 5 + years now. In a city that large, bike riders simply park their bikes & leave them unlocked. I've seen several hundred all over the city. Bikes are never stolen. Doors are seldom locked at nite. He's ridden their trains all over the country & has never seen or experienced any crime like we see everyday in our subway system. The elderly are treated with high respect & politeness .Teachers in the middle school systems are of university professor quality. No trash, anywhere. Left for the airport at 6:30 one morning & there was an elderly woman sweeping the sidewalk in front of her home. Food my only real issue : Japanese eat very little to no bread. Thus their health rates are so high.

Homogenous society that shares the same cultural ideas leads to a peaceful and prosperous country.

Diversity is not a strength. And it’s not racist or hateful towards any race, it’s just a fact that each race is different in their culture, beliefs, actions, and thought processes. When you try to mix those together under one country and style of governance you get conflict and dysfunction. It’s impossible to come to conclusions and solutions that everyone is ok with and it makes it easy for people with evil agendas or desire for power to pit these different people against one another for their own personal gain

US isn’t much better. I think I read that if we had zero immigration the past 10 years our population would have declined a little

The FBI's Crime Data Explorer. It's not a surprise that you haven't heard of it if you think I read it somewhere. The data is clearly laid out on there.

Then you would be wrong. California's violent crime rate is literally half of what it was in 1991.

Stop believing what the media and other people tell you lest you seem like an incurious moron. You can parse the data any way you like, but the truth is that the violent crime index is down.

Yep, its not race though, its culture.

Collective cultures dont succeed in individualized society. They require crappy economic policies.

How's it a cop out to reference the vast number of reported gun homicides/deaths we have here?

In the utopia of Japan, not even the CRIMINALS have guns.

Ah, yes. The FBI, the epitome of honesty, integrity & political neutrality. THAT FBI ? We can trust their stats, especially after the past 5-6-7 yrs? I guess you trust the IRS, the DOJ as well? Same political animals, & political being the key word.

Japan definitely has a dark side. "Dogs and Demons" goes into a bit of detail on this, especially re: public spending and their tendency to concrete over nature, even in the middle of nowhere, because any construction is good construction.

Living there as a kid did teach me to follow rules and not walk slow like a pussy.
