If you can afford Old Metairie, you can afford a generator.

Is a generator common in LA? I understand hurricane potential but, other than that, is power that spotty?

I know they're common in the upper North East but didn't know them to be needed elsewhere.

More common than you would expect. It really depends on the area you live in. Most of the state still has above ground lines and some areas are always losing power with storms.

I have a good friend who lives a little west of Baton Rouge who built a house right after hurricane Gustav(sp). I think he spent $5K on a generator and to this day has never had to use it.

Time to stock up on rations and plywood.

May want to get an extra 4 pack of Charmin.

Could be a long few hours.

That is like being single and carrying a condom in your wallet.

No, OP forgot to pay his bill, and in Old Metairie? You poor, stop trying to live beyond your means.

We don't have hurricane issues but do have ice storms.

I thought of getting a generator 10 years ago. I'm glad I didn't since it would not have been used yet.

Seems like we’ve had extra power for the last couple hours here in St George. I wonder if somebody crossed some wires or something?
