Just Learned my Son's MIL was in Israel during the Attack

She's okay now - taking it easy in a hotel in Cyprus.
My wife and I are very close to her. She was on a cruise and was on a shore excursion to the Sea of Galilee. That's not close to Gaza but is close to Jordan and Syria. The cruise company evacuated them even as the Hamas offensive was in progress and got them to Cyprus.

I would love to visit Israel just for the historical perspective. Unfortunately, it's just not that high on my list due to the risk (even if small).

I have a coworker in Israel right now. Was vacationing family there when it went off. He's stuck right now but safe. Haven't heard much from him

Meh. Lots of people go there and from most accounts it can be an amazing experience.
People I know go to South Africa and Mexico as well and love it.
We can’t all just settle for Carnival cruises and trips to Gulfshores for our vacations
