Just hung an American Flag on front porch of new home.

Is this a statement in 2020’s super politically charged time?
A friend said I may as well have hung up a Trump banner. I thought it was ridiculous.
At either rate the neighbors will have something to chat about. God Bless America. We Shall Overcome.

Put one an American flag our porch two weeks ago. For July 4th, I'll have the Gadsden flag.

Well, it is in the sense you are apparently wanting to be seen.
Most HOA's don't allow flags (or any banners) to be hung from the structure as it is unsightly. A few do allow flag poles and that'd be more tasteful.
I, personnally, dont see anything wrong with it but, TBH, a certain mindset seems to love gloating about it.

That is fair. But maybe I just wanted an American Flag on the front of my new home?
I hadn’t realized the day before I put it up Trump had proposed jail time for people burning the flag. So I think my friend was speaking to the timing of me hanging it.
