They’ll talk all that shite during election time and then it’s going to magically go away.

It's election campaigning to excite the greenies. I do think O&G faces a lot of challenges moving forward but it's not going anywhere.

Oil won’t be pushed out in our lifetimes

There will always be a need for oil but demand is going to drop enough to severely damage the industry. Green energy jpbs arent going to pay what the oilfield pays.

Expect a slow death to States relying on oil for the economy. You can bet some will be political.

AK is already feeling political fallout. The industry will become ultra competitive and some fields will definitely lose out.

People did not quit traveling because of a virus. They did it because of all these senseless mandates. Quit blaming a virus with a 99% survival rate.

I disagree, a lot of folks stopped traveling regardless whether shut-down mandates were in place. The fear is real among a significant percentage of the population.

They will do everything they can to move as much as they can to the Middle East
We will just buy our supply, not produce it

A large percentage of the population? Scared little sheeple who probably voted for Biden. Remove the mandates and see what happens to the economy.

These senseless mandates are causing way more damage than the virus ever did. Go hide in your basement and leave the rest of us alone.

Jeez. This is terrible.

How big is Shell convents refinery compared to XOM BR’s refinery?

Meanwhile you have this group of people getting in the way of a nearly 10 billion dollar investment into St. James Parish at Formosa Plastics

As they all wear/ use plastic, and could get a high paying job from this.

Most plant workers I know get offered early retirement/severance once they hit a certain age so they can pay the replacement cheaper

I'm sure Shell will have job placement but hopefully you don't have to move if your affected

Everyone knows the Refinery is haunted.

“ The unmarked graves of as many as 1,000 slaves who toiled in the agricultural fields of two Ascension Parish plantations were uncovered five years ago by an archaeologist working for the Shell Convent refinery, a finding that one state expert said is among the largest unknown burial grounds discovered in Louisiana.”

This has been discussed for months. Shell wants to move more into renewables and wants to sell the refinery. That's the ultimate goal. In the short time, I hear the refinery is losing money, so it makes sense to go ahead and mothball it.

When the demand for oil picks back up, if it picks back up, they will likely find a buyer. But Shell is done running that refinery.

Not only a huge job loss but a huge loss of tax revenue as well. This will have cascading impacts.

Really wish this state would be more progressive in finding new economies.

Going all in on movies was dumb. They should have used the millions of dollars for something more substantial and permanent.
