Supposedly no buyers have stepped up so they will close by years end.
This is horrible news for those folks and the local economy

Doesn't the Norco refinery depend on the Convent refinery for product? they just finished that big arse pipeline between the two, why would they do all of that and then once it's completed shut the facility down?

Wow I know several ppl who work there

My engineer buddy told me last year that they decided to not really use that pipeline.
The idea to build it was a Motiva decision back then and Shell changed their mind when they took over sole ownership
What a waste of money

Neighbor works there and just texted me. Hope he finds something quick.

Just the opposite. Norco sends feedstock to a Convent.

Yup it’s happening. Anyone hiring Instrument Engineers?

Norco was going to send cat cracker products to convent, but that never materialized. Norco sends olifins to giesmar, and shell is beginning to move heavily into the chemical market.

Is this where Biden tells them operator baws and pipefitters to learn to code?

If you’re serious email me. My plant is.

What I don’t get is why some other company wouldn’t want to just buy it on the cheap. Seems like someone could still make money running it
